Been some time since I posted on this thread but I have some excellent news. I started her up tonight on third key turn ;-) Not had a running engine for 16 yrs so a revival indeed. Thanks to all the forum members that posted help over the last couple years. just need a few tips to fine tune timing. Any suggestions?

2356 wrote:You will have to pay import duty, VAT on the rad, the duty and the shipping and a handling fee for Parcel force at this end of things. I import lots of stuff from the US. Makes no difference if it's a gift or second hand either, I'd only recommend it if there's no european alternative. Might just get standard full size from canleys unless anyone has an idea of what cost the charges are likely to be? Seller says he has shipped several of these to uk and the buyers never comented on having to pay extra charges when they land. Cheers tim

JohnD wrote:You have rebuilt an engine? Or done a lot of work to recommission one out of action for a long time? And you want to start it, for the first time, on acan of old 2-stroke mixture? It's never that easy to get a new/out from commission engine started, and I fear you spoil the ship for two-ha'porth of tar! Or else are very, very hard up? If you can (!) go and buy a gallon of the best (V-power) for your start up. Then use the 2-stroke later, if you must. Friend used to put 2-stroke in his six cylinders, but that was on Lucas Pi and he reckoned the pump needed the lubrication. I once put some diesel in mine by mistake and diluted it tio the max with petrol - it smoked and clogged the plugs for three tank fuls thereafter. This is NOT a good idea! John Blimey John I was only asking if it was ok to use. I got the tail between my legs now :( Point taken though mate. Shell it is... cheers

About to get ready for engine fire up. I have 5 ltrs of fuel in a canister and was thinking of disconnecting fuel hose from pipe and just put hose in canister. Problem is that the fuel had about 50mls of 2 stroke oil in it. Should that fuel not be used?

Cheers Clive A bit of black silicone around edge of mirror base should create the 'normal' look and cover the small area where the chrome has flaked off. Thanks

Hi Clive Thanks for that. Do you know if the rubber gaskets have a recess in them so the mirroe base actually sits in them?

if compressed air doesnt work, use the old flexi brake hose in a grease gun and pump grease into caliper. Thats how I had to release mine. Worked a treat.

I need to see 1) where fuel pipe enters the boot floor. 2) how that then connects to the fuel tank 3) Any vent that is on top of the tank. Nilfisken - your picture was a big help too. Thanks

Thanks Nilfisken What I need to know is where / how the pipe is routed when it exits the tank, through the boot floor. I have a new fuel pipe (copper fuel grade) that runs along the chassis, up into the boot area. I am trying to find out if this is correct and how to properly plumb to tank... If that makes sense?
