  1. Hello All Do any or you guys have their fuel tank uncovered in boot who wouldnt mind taking a few psc and posting on here. My car didnt have (or cant remember it having) any tank plumbing when I got it so any help is appreciated. Also is fuel filter best near the pump or near the tank? Thanks Scott

  3. Finally received tubing today (reliable royal mail!) Filled with sand as recomended by GT6Craig (good shout mate) and formed a rew bends with small pipe bender and fitted sitting above air filters as opposed to in front of original airbox. I think it looks ok. Just hope it doesnt leak :P
  4. Hey Gaz That looks pretty neat and tidy running over the K&Ns. I ordered 500mm length of descaled stainless tube with the idea of putting a few bends in. Might see if I can route is similarly.
  5. Nice one John Thanks PS: Glad you received the templates ok  ;)
  6. will stainless 6mm od (1mm wall) tube bend ok in a set of small pipe benders (brake pipe benders)or will it too hard to bend? What do you think?
  7. Thanks for posting gents. Another option is to get some 6mm od x 4mmid stainless tube and bend accordingly then use some 6mm id hose to link up to float chambers. VR makes a good point and this option will remove this possibility.
  8. Hello If any of you guys have any experience or knowledge in this area and can post a reply quickly, i'd be very greatfull coz i need to get this pipe ordered and sorted for 1st fire-up in 0ver 15 years and i'm getting eager as you can imagine :) Thanks scott
  9. Hello Since i put K&N filters on the carbs, the original fuel pipe that connects to the float chambers and goes around the filters, is no longer long enough because the K&N's are bigger filters - so I am looking to replace this pipe. As the float chamber piping is 6mm O/D, would it make any difference if I replaced the original steel pipe with a 6mm I/D stainless braided hose? Origial pipe is 4mm I/D so the hose would be 2mm bigger on I/D. Would this increase on I/D case me problems? Thanks
  10. Ok got exhaust silencer today, and it will not want to bolt to where the old standard one was. Can anyone post a photo of the underneath of their standard 15oo spitfire? I am fitting the gt6 rear sports silencer to a standard bore resonator off 2ltr vitesse and i am a bit short on pipework so some jiggery-pockery will be in order :'( Thanks Scott uksnatcher wrote:http://www.bell-silencer.co.uk/exhausts.html I think this is the manufacturer of the Bell silencer, there will be a GT6 and a Spitfire model as the input pipe diameter is slightly smaller on a spit. The GT6 middle resonator came from a s/hand GT6 stainless system i bought of Ebay for £30, the same system at Rimmers http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-RG1024SPORT the part you need is 1 S/S Intermediate Pipe GT6 MK3 - Part No. GEX1680SSF if you can buy it seperatly?(notice how much bigger the standard silencer is over the sports silencer) I used a GT6 inter pipe with a spit silencer, a bit of cutting and bending but it will easily fit, all second hand so no biggy if i cocked it up but you are buying new i would get the GT6 silencer with the GT6 inter pipe then an adapter to suit the spit 4 branch or front pipe

    Carpets

Hello Depends on budget I suppose. Molded carpets cost approx £300. Templated tufted about a £100. Personally, I molded my own (after cutting out templates) using the same spec carpet used on BMW mini. Looks great to me. Take a look at page 12 on my project thread link below for a few details. Cheers

  16. Couple of pics now with carbs and wrapped manifolds on. Still need some carb breathers etc. Question for you: Where does the other end of the steering rack earth connect too from the rack? It was never connected when i got car. Looks like it goes on some bolt. Would it be on the flexible coupling (but that already has earth strap on??

  18. Hello Thought I would try this thread every now and again in case one comes up. PM me if you have any leads as getting close to first engine run test :)
  19. Where/how do you check the balance of propshaft? Help welcome
  20. Thanks Rick & Chris... I just hope that i have not cocked the timing up when installed new cam  :o and that it will fire up when ready. Going to fire up with standard dizzy which is not set yet but will be going EDIS ingnition before too long. Going to heat wrap the manifold pipes this aft so should be able to get carbs bolted on later too. Starting to look like somebody loves it now  :)
  21. Thanks gents for the positive comments. its been a real labour of love this car. I am really looking forward to hearing it fire up as this car has not had a complete engine in it for over 15 years, so a real milestone when it occurs
