heraldcoupe
Hi Bunny,1200 front shoes are exactly the same as the 948 type, not that it's going to make them easy to find at the moment. I have been carrying these as a stock item, but when I ordered a new batch from my supplier I was told that they are no longer being made. I've not sought other suppliers yet, but there certainly is a potential supply problem. I think you have 2 real options. Either go with having your existing shoes relined, or check out some autojumbles as old stock replacements can still be found. The advantage with old stock is that you are likely to get asbestos shoes, far better stopping ability than those which have recently been available. Hopefully the supply problems will be resolved in the near future as I'm sure I'm not the only specialist working on it,Cheers,Bill Davies - Rarebits4classics
thebouncingbunny
thanks for the reply bill, yes indeed after consulting my local brake supplier(friction linings weymouth-very helpfull i might add!!!)they produced an elderly parts book and confirmed that this is so.am hoping to aviod dealing with the triumph parts "specialist"i alluded to in my earlier post as i'm going to attend the spring autojumble at beauleau(i can never remember how to spell that!)next week anyway so am hoping to find some asbestos ones there.just another item on the shopping list(ive a dlomite/morris minor and a vw split screen camper)as you say these are better than the asbestos free ones i have been running in recent times.cheers for your helpbunnynobrakes! ;D
