Rear hub not parallel with plate

Hallum

Recommended Posts

Hi All,
A little bit perplexed. I am stripping the rear brakes, and came to the offiside and discovered an issue. The issue is that the hub is not parallel to the backplate. This means that when the drum is on it grinds at the bottom of the plate and sits about 10mm off the top of the plate. This is the case both with the suspension under load and without. I cannot understand why this is the case. This driveshaft is not bent as the shaft turns without oscillating, and the plate is properly fixed to its mount.
Any ideas?
Thanks
H

Thanks for the replies guys, I managed to get the assembly stripped last night to discover a mutitude of issues. First as was suggested the big end bearing is shot. Then I next discovered that the needle bearing had competely gone, and has done significant damage to the half shaft which will need to be replaced. Thanks for the help, much aprriciated,
Harry
