fit waterpump hose

Grrrrrr.......
Been trying to get a new hose onto the waterpump outlet pipe.
It will go up the first 3 mms or so, but not more.
Tried soap, washing up liquid, WD40.... no luck.
What I need is some sort of hose expander - do these actually exist?
Any useful tips?

What about soaking in very hot water for a while? Should soften it up enough to get it on before it cools again.

water hoses have no stretch as they are fabric reinforced, so your hose must be too small?

I had to soak mine in very hot water too, worked, but it was a struggle. Piman is right.. but you will get a little compression of the rubber on the inside of the strands. What size hose you using?

Finally got it on. Immersing in boiling water did help just enough.
