AMSQ3D
Purchased 2500 Triumph engine complete, except for Carbs. Not sure about origin of engine, its to cold to stay in the garage. However I have a set of Stromberg carbs that came from A GT6, these are complete with manifolds. Can these be reconditioned for the 2500 engine. I also have a set of SU's, but no manifold. Is there a conversion for the Strombrg manifold, were SU's ever fitted as standard to this engine. I have never seen the PI ststem for sale, so I quess these are difficult to obtain. Any advice - Thanks
Tim Bancroft
I would go for a set of 1.75SU carbs. PI kit would release more power, however alot of of work is involved in fitting all the parts.
JohnD
AMSQ,(Armand? Amam? (am^2))The 2500 could really do with the HS6 carb,as Tim says. The GT6/Vitesse never had SUs and never anything bigger than 150 (1.5") Stroms , but later (76) 2500 had the HS6s. Certainly there is an adaptor plate to bolt the SUs onto the Stromberg styled manifold. It had the TriumphTune number TT1656, but I've no idea if it is still stocked at Moss. Would not be a massive or precison job to make your own from some alloy plate.John
Richard B
The 2500S / Late 2000TC inlet flows better thant the earlier manifold. Although you need to move the engine away from the strut nearest the air box. The holes are blanked off in the engine cross-member for this, if you have an anti-roll bar.
