Andy Edwards
HiFinally after 5 years of rebuilding i've got my GT6 MOT'd :). while it was being tested i asked the tester to check the emissions for me, and the CO2 was over 9%! As i was rebuilding the engine i decided to change the carbs to new SU's, but didnt know what size needles to fit, as its running so rich obviously the ones in it are wrong, does anyone know the correct size/part number please? Many ThanksAndy
RedRooster
Have you adjusted the jets?
Andy Edwards
Yes the jets are adjusted as far as they can be.
Royboy66
Andy. Take the needles out and have a look what letters are stamped on them, ppl can then advise whee to go from there :-)
RedRooster
But if it was an MOT tester the engine was at idle, the jets may just need adjusting up.
Fizzy
Was the choke on during the test?
piman
Hello Andy, "Yes the jets are adjusted as far as they can be."That's not how they work. Nominal setting is the jet adjuster nut two full turns down from being adjusted flush with the jet tube. New carburettors would have been set to that anyway, do you know if they are the correct specification for your car?Alec
