chunky63
Rather than buying an off the shelf standard exhaust from one of the well known spares specialists I am looking into buying a custom made to measure one from...https://www.longlife.co.uk/classic-vintage-vehiclesThey have a branch local to me and for the same price as the off the shelf one I can have it made and fitted including subtle tweaks to the tailpipes. Supplied and fitted £320My question is this....please can someone measure the standard rear GT6 silencer for length and height, the tailpipe external diameter and the main pipe diameter. Thanks

chunky63
Longlife now want £500 to fit an exhaust as they don't have any patterns for the transverse rear silencer so have to make one from scratch.Back to the drawing board and I'll go back to an off the shelf one now. Peter McEvedy
The TSSC shop seems to sell standard stainless exhausts - unless I am reading the brochure incorrectly.

Thanks Peter, I'll take a look.I have just found and purchased a second-hand nearly new SS silencer for £30, bargain 🙂, so now I just need to buy the front two pipes and associated brackets etc.
Don Cook
I have a TSSC stainless system on my MK111. However, the centre section includes a silencer that is perilously close to the chassis rails on either side. Bell silencers, who made the system, made me a stainless centre section without the silencer. So, easier to fit and a bit more fruity sounding. Bell Silencers are in Swindon. Thanks Don, I'll have a look at them too. Thanks for the info on the centre silencer as i have been contemplating fitting one. The mk2 doesn't have one as standard. chunky63
I looked around all the usual sources including your suggestions and decided on getting all the parts I needed from James Paddock as they are very good on price and delivery, I even treated myself to one of those ABS gearbox covers to tidy up the interior and stop the nasty draughts and smells. 😉

The parts arrived okay but the exhaust fitting kit was missing a few vital parts and had some additional bits that I didn't need. After a phone call to what I can only describe as a typical British storeman I have managed to get the missing parts by referring to the Triumph manual and descriptions....grrrr

Hi Mark,I agree and I've always had good service from them in the past, this one was a bit odd though and I felt left out on a limb. Hopefully all sorted now and I can get the GT6 running again 🙂
