Anthony
I have the chance of purchasing a TR5. It doesn't have the small clear rear-lenses below the main light clusters (I believe they're the reverse lights?) Nor does it have the red side-markers on the rear wings. It's more like a TR4 in these respects. All other TR5s I've seen have these lights fitted. Is this a genuine TR5? I wouldn't have thought there were too many changes made to such a short-lived model? Steve AKA vitessesteve
Have you checked the numbers. https://www.gov.uk/get-vehicle-information-from-dvla Is the engine number for TR5? Does it have a TR5 chassis number?
Ben Hutchings
No idea about this personally, but found this very very detailed post from a fellow called Stuart: https://www.tr-register.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/54830-tr4-5-body-shell-difference/ Might be worth taking a look at the inner wings! Hogie
Hi Anthony, if that is what Stuart (Edwards) says then it is fact. If you decide to refit the reversing lights then how about fitting them into the reflector on the light cluster rather than have those cheapo tits sticking out. Is the wiring from the GB there to be used. Roger
Anthony
The car is registered as a 2.5 litre on the DVLA websites - but that doesn't mean anything as it doesn't mean it hasn't been changed It also doesn't tell you whether the car is an import or not. I agree the engine and chassis numbers on the car may not be the same as the DVLA records but are worth checking. Non TR5 numbers on the DVLA record would be grounds to suspect the identity. So a TR4 dressed to look like a TR5 might show up. Have you checked the numbers on the car are real TR5 units? There is lot of information online that will help you for example: https://www.tr5passion.com/How-to-recognise-a-real-TR5-in-3-stages_a131.html

Hi Anthony, he is a long time car restorer down in Cornwall and frequents the TR Register forum. Roger
