Lord Sorbington
Will need a new starter motor pretty soon, the old one is on a wing and a prayer.Since I like making work for myself, I'll probably renew the main power cable from the battery at the same time, for my own peace of mind.Has anyone fitted a fuse in this cable? Strikes me as quite a good idea, most modern cars are so equipped, often a fusible link in a little box next to the battery as opposed to a traditional fuse. What sort of rating would the fuse have to be?Alan
Glenn
Hey Alan,Have you got a catalogue for www.vehicle-wiring-products.co.uk/ ? A must-have read for any bathroom. They have a mega fuse and holder for your job as well as the cable and terminals. Excellent service and reasonable prices. No idea what fuse you'd need. My manual says 80 amps "light running current at 5,500 to 8,000 rpm". I'd imagine it would draw a lot more than that cranking an engine over.Glenn
Richard B
Err 200amp fuse, 300 amp fuse.......Fit a new heavy cable (with solderd ends), if you want to fit a battery cut out in line with the cable. I would not recommend a fuse.......
