Mk 3 Spit Reverse Light Switch

Hello all.

I'm (still) troubleshooting the electrics on my spit and the reverse light switch appears to be knackered as there isn't a short across the terminals when the car is in reverse.

Two questions - Is there a way to get it out without removing the top section of the gearbox and are the switches repairable??  For the sake of a tenner it'd probably be worth replacing it anyway, but thought I'd check.

I've just done a repair on mine. Mind you it was only the wires had broken off...so i unscrewed the switch, took it into my workshop and soldered two other wires onto it..made up connections...screwed it back in..connected the new connections....all working again ;)
