Paudman
Anyone use CarLube engine oil on any car, classic or modern? Out of three local motor Factors it's all i can get, other than some very expensive specialised oil that has been on the shelves for years. No Castrol, Duckhams or other 'quality' brands that I'm used to. I know it's a supposed recession but all else seems to have disappeared. Anyone tried this stuff? GT6 M
this one,!!!!!http://www.carlube.co.uk/index.cfm?product=100&product_title=Daytona%20Motor%20Oilonly got a SE rating, this rating was about in Roman times, rumour has it they used it to oil their Chariot wheel bearings. If you cant get any oil for cars ,the use a 20/50 Motor bike oil, vsat majority better than car oils.with lots moer anti wear additives in em.even most modern bikes still run older spec oil, cos of the anti wear package. Richard B
Eurocarparts do offers every now and then on VR1. Which a lot of the Stag owners use. I've got it in the MkI PI. Normally £35 a gallon, you can usually get two delivered for around £50 when they are doing their offers. Next time I get an email I'll try and post it here or pm you if you are interested. spunkymonkey
Bear in mind that API SE was the absolutely up-to-date standard when our cars were in production so that, in itself, shouldn't be a reason not to use it. But most of the Carlube stuff is SL rated anyway (which is a 2001 spec)I've used a lot of Carlube stuff (esp transmission oils and greases) over the years in a lot of cars and it's never caused a problem. My 1300 is filled with their 20W50 and the Dafs get topped up with it. One's just had it's heads off after 20k miles on the stuff and there was no sign of a problem, and that's with no filter in the system.I'll have the 1300's engine out in a few weeks and don't expect to find anything nasty there either. Raider
I used to sell oil back in the 80s and "SE spec" was right up there as I remember itShould be fine in our cars - I'd use it

In Stafford town centre in the late 1990s I bought a litre of off-the-shelf oil for my Maestro.... the guy took one look at it and told me:" you don't like your car much...!" In my defence it was losing so much oil that this would have lasted from Stafford to about Charnock Richard on the M6, by which time it required more... so it was an entire £1 worth that I could well afford to lose. Quality stuff (not Carlube, by the way, just hi-jacking my own thread)
Deleted User
I've used their semi synthetic in a Merc and a VW, both driven hard, no problems whatsoever with the oil.
