Just been to see this Spit 1500 which I'm considering to replace mine. Not in bad shape, had a slightly second rate restoration by the sounds of things. Will give me a decent starting point anyway.

One thing that I noticed is the small carbs (dash pots at least). I guess these are the Hs2's? Mine are definitely bigger and are the standard Hs3s I think... Did 1500 engines come with both?

as far as I know 1500 Spits had twin HS4 1.5inch for the British market.

Look like standard HS4 in the photos to me.

Thanks. Sorry yes meant hs4. I think maybe they just have slightly smaller dash pot and a different style of cap. Maybe off a different 1500, like a midget...

Late HS4 (as would be expected on such late car) with ball-bearing dashpots.  The "neck" of the dashpot is fatter and slightly shorter than on earlier carbs.
