bond
TR7....backfires on tickover when warmed up. The first carb appears to be working as it should, on tickover its sucking air, if i cover the air intake on it the engine struggles and stops. The second carb does not suck air on tickover and when i cover the air intake on it nothing happens. Both carb suck air when reved. Any ideas, thanks in advance for any help Dave
piman
Hello Dave, it sounds as if the balance is wrong. You need to split the linkage between the two carburettors and increase the idle speed of the rear until it matches that of the front then adjust the idle speed evenly on both to get a sensible idle speed. A piece of tubing to your ear held into the intake will serve to judge the 'hiss' so as to have an equal draw on both units. Then tighten the linkage back up.Alec

Nick Jones
You might want to check that the rubber carb to manifold mounting blocks are not split/perished/leaking as that is something they like to to do.....Nick
