heraldhabitat
Hi Guys, Even though i have a wealth of knowledge on our cars I need some info. I am fitting a 1298 engine to my 1200 saloon with a ally bellhousing, the clutch is a diaphragm type, which clutch slave do I use, early or late? heraldcoupe
Hi Chris,The slave cylinder needs to match the clutch rather than anything else, so you'll need the late (diaphragm) slave cylinder. Be sure to use the appropriate release arm too, the bearing carrier is taller to suit the diaphragm clutch,Cheers,Bill.
heraldhabitat
Cheers Bill it's kinda what I thought, in the early days I fitted a diaphragm thrust bearing an arm to a coil clutch not knowing the difference, the pedal just went solid, three times I had it in and out before I caught on lol. I bought a box of (triumph) junk from Coventry the other day and it contain a brand diaphragm clutch release arm and bearing so I fitted that. I fitted a new gasket between the box and the bell housing but couldn't for the life of me see why it's there.
