My oil light has just stopped working....bulb OK and new wiring harness

Am I correct in saying that if I continuity test across the switch body and terminal and it  buzzes, then the switch is faulty?

The ball valve inside moves by inserting a probe...but it could be worn

With the ignition on if you disconnect at the pressure switch and earth the wire the oil light should illuminate. If not you have a supply, bulb or wire problem. If it does light the problem is with the pressure switch....

No, unless you're doing so with the engine running. As YS & glang said, the switch should conduct when there's no pressure.
