CharlieB
I'm changing the seals on my diff & one of the output shafts has about 1.5mm endfloat as the bearing is loose on the shaft.I can probably loctite a new bearing but with just the little circlip it doesn't have any positive location & there don't seem to be any shims listed in the parts catalogues. It seems like a crap design given all the axial forces applied to the shaft by the suspension.Any advise welcome, perhaps I should consider the shaft as scrap? Nick Jones
I would scrap the shaft as this is effectively holding the wheel/suspension on. The little circlip shouldn't be expected to do this on its own. The bearings are normally a pretty tight fit on the shaft.Nick
CharlieB
I think you're right, had a closer look, the loose bearing seems to have worn back the shoulder on the shaft. Replacement shaft time. The bearing on the other shaft is very tight, haven't got it off yet. Think I'll try putting it in the freezer for a while then heating the bearing while tightening the puller.
