A TR7 16V
Will I be able to use the wheel nuts holding the steel wheels on the Herald to hold the wire wheel hubs, which are countersunk? Graham

Hogie
Hi Graham, I know nothing of the Heralds, but on the TR series you can not use steel wheel studs on a wire wheel adaptor - to long. Roger
Clive
Yes, I think there are shorter studs available. Or cut them down to suit.
A TR7 16V
Looks like I take a wheel off and offer up the hub and wheel. No tyres on the wires, so it should be easy enough to try. Just the usual problem of finding a dry period in a county with too many rainy seasons (all cold). Graham
thescrapman
You need shorter studs and thinner nuts. i had a car with neither. not ideal to say the least
A TR7 16V
Quoted from thescrapman- You need shorter studs and thinner nuts. i had a car with neither. not ideal to say the least What problem's it cause? Graham
thescrapman
Loss of wheels (well almost) a few times until I realised. the longer studs stop the spinner clamping the wheel to the hub properly. As the ends of the studs compress slightly the spinner loses tension and the spinner loses its grip.
