Buster
My 1976 1500 has a 3/4" brake master cylinder, but i have seen some 5/8" master cylinders being sold for spitfires , what is the right size ?
CharlieB
5/8" is correct for a Spitfire. 3/4" was fitted to the late GT6 MkIII.Do you have otherwise standard brakes? The bigger diameter means you have shorter pedal travel but have to push a bit harder. Buster
As far as I know the rest of the braking system is standard, better look for a new m/c now, does it have a bigger reservoir than the clutch m/c ?

As you can see here http://more-power.co.uk/photos/andys_spitfire/images/170/original.aspxThe originaly master cylinders had metal not plastic reservoirs and the lids could be a pain to get off if they'd been on a while....
