Biffdiff42
I am trying to remove the dash from my TR7 and the manual suggests that the shear bolts need to be removed from the steering shaft to do this. Can it be done without or if not how do you get the shear bolts out without special tools ?
Howard
This is being discussed right now in the TR Register forum complete with photos and diagrams. Link below:- https://www.tr-register.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/67563-dashboard-removal/&tab=comments#comment-713885 Suggest you look at that to save repeating what has been said Cheers Howard
Biffdiff42
I am now trying to refit the dashboard and the air vent pipe work is proving to be quite a struggle to connect and I have the vents to the windscreen in place but cannot get to the horizontal pipe to reconnect it on the passenger side which connects the air vent in the side of the dash. Is there a sequence or process for getting them back in ? Think I need a well trained octopus to deal with these tasks!
Beans
This is your starting position picture attached), so the tubes connected to the heater unit.Put the dashboard in place loosely and pull the passenger side back a little enabling you to access the rear of the vent. Shouldn't take more than a few minutes. You might want to remove the steering column switches, to gain extra room to manoeuvre. The driver’s side is even more straightforward as long as the instrument cluster is out.
