Hi chaps,

Sad news I'm afraid - I'm going to have to pull out from the rally at the last minute now. I found out just yesterday that my co-driver will have to be working tomorrow rather than tooling around in an old car sadly. The only other pal I can call on in my neck of the woods is away with the TA this weekend as well.

It's a real bummer as I've been looking forward to this for a while now. However, I did drive the Triumph up to Derbyshire last weekend and the clutch was struggling a little at motorway speeds so maybe it was a blessing in disguise rather than an ignominous end to the day on recovery lorry!

An absolute blow though and my co-driver has been given a bit of a dressing down about not blowing off work but such is life I suppose. I hope the event goes swimmingly and is lots of fun and thanks for going to all the effort organising it Jon.

I demand lots of pictures of the day to vicariously enjoy it!

Good luck,
Dicky

Well, that's it, all over and done with now! Sadly we had three withdrawals; Dicky as above, the Mk2 Escort pulled out with compression issues and the girl in the Audi TT pulled out as her boyfriend was ill.

I think everyone enjoyed it, and unlike last years Herringbone, didn't get really pissed off!

Sadly, it wasn't a Triumph that won, but at least a Triumph came a close second, and it was mostly the CT teams that did well.

One day I will deliver a drivers briefing without fluffing it up totally. You'd have thought after 3 years I'd have worked it out... I guess not.

I think my camera man was pretty busy throughout the day with photographs and videos, so we'll hopefully have some good clips to stick on youtube etc. Plenty of photos too!

I'll be doing a write up for the mag, but it'd be nice if someone that took part could write a few words too.

I think also, unless I can get a better venue, I have no option but continue opening the event up to non-CT teams. As it is the event made a little profit by being very clever with the catering. If I was only open to CT members then the entry cost would have been much higher and made the event less attractive, but I hope that everyone felt they got good value for money even with the slight year-on-year increases.

Many thanks again to everyone that took part!

Thank you Jon for all the hard work you and your team put into organising it.  We thoroughly enjoyed it and wouldn't have been disappointed with a Herringbone session, but I understand your reason for not doing one!  I'm just sorry that we were one of the crews not in a Triumph, but The Mk1 will be with me this evening ( a day too late 🙁 but never mind)

Once again thank you

Richard & Lynn

Many thanks Jon to you and all your team for the hard work involved in making the event happen, the venue, food and scatter rally was great and we did not miss the Herrringbone! Personally I have no problem with other non-Triumphs if you struggling to make the numbers work - what ever it takes to keep these events going is good.
We had a great day (despite the torrential rain and no roof on the Zombie!) - just need to look a bit harder for those extra bonus picture clues!

Can you post a final list of the results ?

Many thanks again

Charlie

Right, well this is highly embarrassing.

Unfortunately the results have been ranked incorrectly when they were ranked at the end of the day. Although I didn't rank them, I equally didn't check them before announcing them, only one team will technically change place, as all the others are correct.

I will take efforts to correct this.

I apologise for this profusely, I am very, very sorry for yet another thing to have got buggered up!

Equally it shows that if you want something doing right, you do it yourself.

I will tie up with the teams in question privately, and repost when I have heard back from them.

Hi All,

Today has been spent designing an excel document that will automatically calculate teams points and then rank them taking into account mileage if used as a tie-breaker. This will hopefully make scoring a LOT quicker at the end of the event and eliminate errors.

I will post the corrected results later or tomorrow all being well.

Sorry for the delay.

Dale, if you read this, I have these in an Excel document that I'll send over to you to include in the mag - I hope to get some photos from the photographer this week all being well.
