does anyone know cylinder compression for 1500 , I've got 150lbs after top end rebuild . Also when engine is hot, idle speed picks up , and is slowed when taking rocker cover oil cap off , how much pressure should one expect in the rocker cover ?

Compression figures are not exact - what you're looking for is the same across the whole engine. 150PSI is a fairly typical figure for a good engine of our vintage.

You shouldn't have pressure in the rocker cover. Removing the oil filler cap has an effect on engine running because the crank case is vented through the rocker cover to the carbs (at partial vacuum). With the cap off, you get extra air flowing through. If that causes the idle speed to drop then it indicates the engine is less efficient when leaned off, which probably means your idle mixture is about right, possibly a fraction on the lean side.
