Mr Happy
Hi allI was just about to refit my diff cover, but......the gasket doesn't fit.Does anyone recognise this unit? Any advice/comments would be appreciated.MIi 1976 - Rover V8 conversion.ThanksLes
Randall
Should be a serial number stamped somewhere, with a 2 or 3 letter prefix. The prefix can be decoded to discover the original application. The "Stag" diff I got sold had a MGA prefix, indicating it actually came from a 2.5 Estate. Richard B
Also check the six figure part number in the rear aluminium casting, this will will identify the origin. Post it on here if you want someone to trace it.There are two bolt holes that differ between the Stag and Saloon.

Richard B
Sorry , link no longer availableThats a MkI Saloon / MkI & II Estate diff. Chris Witor has the gasket £2.75http://www.chriswitor.com/products.php?cat=332 The serial No. is stamped into the main casing on the bottom, usually buried under paint or dirt and can be hard to spot sometimes. At a guess will start MB, MG, ME or MN.

GT6 M
No gasket, just silicon sealantI use the high temp stuff i get frae the fire place spot int toonbutt, most of the motor factors will sell it,its in smaller tubes, butt still plenty for sealing it upjust mek sure its all clean, no oil, clean wid thinners or petroland if yer covers no fitting correctly, cos its wrong cover, then ye need to drill a 1/4 hole in difftap it, and use a 1/4 boltit,ll fit just oot wards of the hole already thereM
