Einar
I am about to fit a recon diff unit to my Vitesse. When the rear attachments are fitted the front mounting plate does not fit on the studs from the chassis. Some clearance of around 1 cm is missing to be able to fit the front plate. I have attached a pic of the front left attachment of the mounting plate to illustrate the problem. I have heard that it is recommended to have the original one reconditioned rather than fitting another recon one as the shape of the front mounting plate may be different from car to car. I experienced some difference between the new and old plates and have therefore used the old plate on the new reconditioned one. Anyway it does not fit. As far as I can see the mounting should be straight forward or am I missing something here? Is there anyone that has experienced this?
elm-phoenix
changed mine 3 times, and hade to adjust each one with force to the wings to fit each one, and have no problems, changed to suit engines not throgh neglect.
Einar
Okey, I see the picture. The plate seems to be quite stiff to me so is it bended/adjusted in place or on the bench? Do I need to heat it to ease the adjustment? (the Vit is just jacked up so limited space)

Einar
OK - thanks. However, I may imagine it would be hard to bend it ::)
elm-phoenix
laying on back under car, after jacking up diff and bolting on back, swing up try, drop down swing at arm with lump hammer and offer up again, repeat till fits, worked for me,

Einar
The diff is fitted - and the mounting plate was quite easy to bend. In fact not a problem at all :). Anyway, thanks for the replies as I feel much more comfortable to proceed after getting some input.
