opel Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Hi looking for some advice on changing a clutch on mark 4 spitfire with overdrive. Is it possible to do without removeing engine?. Any tips would be great.
Sideways Tim Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Dunno about the overdrive, but it's easy enough without. Gearbox tunnel cover out from the insde. Drop the propshaft off completely and then undo the seven hundered and forty two bolts around the bell housing. Off it comes from inside the car :)
Velocita Rosso Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Yes is the short answerPassenger seat out/fob removedRadio support outTunnel outUndo prop at frontRemove starter motorUndo clutch slave cylinderUndo gear box tailRemove speedo driveUndo bell housingJack up rear of engine to take strain then eventually lift it to lift gbox tail from propRemove bell housing and gearbox and wiggle like fury to remove gearbox and bell housing....and there is the clutch, remove from flywheel and replace Reinstall in reverse
