heralddolly
Hi.After taking my Vitesse to the rolling road, I had serious clutch slip in reverse (any incline and the car would not move) and going forward very slight slip which seemed to go after a short while.Am I right in thinking that at 5K revs the clutch threw a tantrum and was letting me know ??Clutch now appears to be fine but in fairness I have not taken the car for a long run yet, since the rolling road. Finally, is it a sign that the clutch is probably already on the way out OR has suffered burning / scorching to the friction plate etc ?????Thanks.Richard. Steve Cureton
Clutch slip can be caused by other things such as seized master or slave cylinders, but most likely is worn clutch plate.

heralddolly
Hi.Took the car for a run and all okay.Is it possible that the friction plate may have got so hot that it glazed ???????I'm only comparing that to a disc brake that can get the same sort of glazed surface after excessive braking and reaching a very high temp.Regards.Richard. Steve Cureton
I reckon you had something sticking which has now freed off after a little useage. It might come back, especially if you don't use the car for a while, but I would wait and see what develops - and take out breakdown cover just in case!
