StagNL
Surely the whole linkage with both UJs is cheaper than 75?Julian
tony66
thats what they seem to be...unless anybody has spotted cheaperits not the end of the world but if there was a ten quid rebuild kit it wuld be nice-that and a wee coat of paint would do the job nicely
StagNL
Just looked on the site of James Paddocks: FAM1718X - STEERING COLUMN JOINT ALTERNATIVE £19.50.That is per UJ.http://www.jamespaddock.co.uk/parts.aspx?categoryID=8&vehicleId=2Julian
DJT
That one is for a Spitfire.Have you tried ringing Paddocks or Robsport? They often have good s/hand parts available. The Stag steering shaft (151032) rarely wears out, so there should be plenty of good used ones about.
tony66
dont really fancy used tbh-looks like its a new one-was an mot advisory,as well as front balljoint, bit front o/s and rear o/s wheelbearing play all easy enough with exception perhaps of rear wheelbearing
StagNL
Spitfire it is, my mistake. Thought I clicked on 'Stag'....Rimmers lists them as not available...I had one knocking about but if I still have it, it is in a lock up of which I don't have ready access.Julian
DJT
Quoted from tony66 dont really fancy used tbh-looks like its a new one-was an mot advisory,as well as front balljoint, bit front o/s and rear o/s wheelbearing play all easy enough with exception perhaps of rear wheelbearing Fair enough, your choice. However, in 27 years of Stag ownership and over 80,000 miles, I've never known one wear out. New ones aren't available from any of the usual suppliers at the moment. Good luck with your search.
