iggy Posted September 12, 2014 Share Posted September 12, 2014 ive no experience with the astra pump but the electric power steering pump on my old 1998 Peugeot 106 diesel wasn't working despite the fuses and relays being ok, after looking into it on the internet they can just stick especially if the car hasn't been used for a while, may be the astra uses the same pump but any way, the advice on the Peugeot forum was to hit the pump a few times with a heavy hammer it worked no problems since :) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
ferny Posted September 13, 2014 Author Share Posted September 13, 2014 Yep, electric. I'm not too happy using an old one as it's common for them to fail. But, it's not my money. Looking into it a bit more this morning it could be any number of things, from the alternator to the ecu. A mechanic diagnosed it as the pump but as it works when the car is first turned on then fails I want to check it over myself. Also just got hold of the workshop manual.
