RBRR 2018 IMPORTANT NOTICE
DaveKent replied to Tim Bancroft's topic in Round Britain Reliability Run (RBRR)
It will be through the new website when it's up and running. you can try it out here: https://clubtriumph.ltd/ -
Tim, While this is a nice theory, in real life most people are struggling to juggle their cashflow, and parting with upwards of £250 to secure an entry position can be quite difficult, particularly at this time of year. As Triumph owners/enthusiasts become thinner on the ground it also gets more difficult to convince "non-believers" to commit to being co drivers so far in advance, so the owner usually has to stump up the whole entry fee, and hope that he can get a crew together in time, or maybe the crew are husband/wife and offspring where the total entry fee will come from one household's income. Even if one has budgeted for the event, I doubt they would have thought about the 25% rise in entry fee since the previous event ( I am aware of why, and that the increase is unavoidable, so I am not having an issue with this aspect). Whilst I love the event and will continue to support it, I do think that it is unreasonable to assume that we can all afford it just because we want to do it. I would suggest that there still a fair few entrants who are doing it at the expense of something else; discretionary spend it is Tim. but it's still around £700-£800 of spend for a weekends "pleasure"

Is the new website going to ready by then? - I can't find a new format as yet?? -
I dont understand the need to use a reversed reflection of what's on your phone screen when you can just glance at the speedo app on your phone in the first place?? I use Speedometer on my iphone, and to be honest its easier to look at it in its holder or resting on the dash than trying to mount it so you get a readable reflection, plus the screen is easy to see during the day too, which is a big ask for most of the HUD app reflections!

Clive Try Chris Tullet Exhausts in Aylesbury, they are very knowledgeable, helpful and will design and make you a proper exhaust.

I'm sure that some still have common sense and spirit, and when things become too regulated or sanitised then breakaway groups are formed. Sad but true.- 118 replies

Try bleeding it, make sure the bleed valve is at the top. They are a pain in the bum to get right, and also slacken the clamp bolt, tap the slave in as far as it will go, then retighten the clamp.

At last, someone prepared to say "if it's not for you, then don't do it" its quite simple really!! This IS the event; please look carefully at the rules, the guidelines, the times, the start and finish points, the route etc, THEN consider very carefully if YOU are able/prepared to meet those requirements. You have only two options: 1, Yes I am willing to try. 2 No I'm not up to that For option 1 the next step is "Enter". For option 2 the next step is "Don't enter". Option 3 (I wish to change it to suit me) is not actually an option; it does not feature in the options list and should therefore not be chosen in case of ridicule.- 118 replies

I don't think the event will happen again because its too long, too dangerous, starts in the wrong place, uses the wrong roads, ends in the wrong place at the wrong time without enough hotel stops for tea and proper nourishment, contravenes every regulation that is relevant and quite a lot of those that aren't. Also the cars are no longer safe or large enough to carry the number of crew required to ensure that a new driver is available every hour,, and that no one drives more than once, or has to think and drive at the same time as this will result in life imprisonment at best. Perhaps a mental health charity should be considered????

John Davies, how about joining the organising team for the next RBBRR; all of our problems and infringements could be quickly and easily ironed out. Also I would suggest that entrants be careful what they post on FB and the forum as clearly they are being quoted out of context, and this could be dangerous at worst, detrimental to the event at least. What a shame.- 118 replies

A1 closed on Friday night

No, there was no traffic at all, and the detour we took up the A168, then through Yarm led us effortlessy straight onto the A68. No problem at all and the "scenery" of Yarm nightlife was good on the eyes too. 😉 -

Who's got what to do for 2016?
DaveKent replied to GreenV8Machine's topic in Round Britain Reliability Run (RBRR)
Well every time I use the Toledo I find another job that needs doing. The last remaining challenges for this week are new rack bushes, a whole set of new tyres as the old ones screeched at every opportunity, even in a straight line, wheel alignment, some wiring to the supplementary fuse box and another oil and filter change. That'll be it I hope!!!- 374 replies

Who's got what to do for 2016?
DaveKent replied to GreenV8Machine's topic in Round Britain Reliability Run (RBRR)
So........ now the MOT is passed I'm getting some miles on the Toledo and I find that it overheats, the brakes are rubbish and there is a noisy wheel bearing. The engine struggles to run when there is a large current draw, the wipers are certainly not comparable to a modern car, there are several oil leaks and I'm broke!!! In order to address at least some of these issues the radiator is going in to be re-cored tomorrow, a new thermostat and water pump are going to be fitted, I'll change the head gasket and timing cover gasket and oil seal on Sunday. I've ordered new brake discs and wheel bearings so I may get them done Sunday too/. The seats are non reclining so I've still got to install my MGTF ones. So Tim..... ready with 3 weeks to go: I really wish I was!!!! 🙂- 374 replies
