  1. Oh dear some unexpected welding needed around the front subframe mount- can anyone recommend someone to repair it to a good standard asap so i can get the Toledo MOTd?
  2. Hmm, Although low is good, how low is too low?? !!   Think the adjusting spanner is due for a workout! What about a VW buggy style exhaust?
  3. The Toledo is beginning to look like something capable of the RBRR now. I still need to adjust the spring/ride height refit the manifolds and exhaust and change the seats, plu a few other bits and bobs.......oh, and of course see if it will MOT!!
  4. Tim , BOK is still the car of choice for the RBRR, but it needs a lot of TLC so the Toledo "back up" has to be prepared first!! Does that actually make any sense????? I got a feeling we'll be in the Tolly!!
  5. We're looking good on the Toledo front, which is great but a shame too as I really wanted to do the event in my spitfire. Toledo has all new brakes, shocks, springs, full exhaust _ only the over axle pipe was rusty but availability and size problems led me to a gradual acquiring of a full system only to snap the down pipe studs and having to whip off the manifold too! New steel wheels and tyres, gear linkage bushes and some other bits and pieces done I'm beginning to feel something for the car so maybe an overdrive box if I can get one in time!!
  6. Vibration Free are excellent for all kinds of balance issues, from engine components, torque converters, propshaft and driveline and anything else that may rotate/vibrate!!
  7. You can get new old stock inner wings for 1300FWD from the Triumph Dolomite club; that's where I got mine from last year-there are still a few about.
  8. 1300 fwd inner wing is completely different shape ahead of the turret. It has the mounting for the bonnet stay pressed into it, and the top edge is angled towards the centreline if the car. whereas Toledo/Dolomite wings run almost parallel to the centreline.
  9. The Club has a replacement key service; have you tried Andrew and Tina?

    Head Gasket?

Most we see at work are oil into the coolant, with the oil in the sump remaining clean; however we do see a considerable amount of pressurised coolant tanks (from combustion/ compression in the cylinders) and some water into oil gasket failures. With moderns, the most regular water/oil cross contamination I see is caused by oil cooler failure rather than head gasket failure.
  11. I'll be entering again; but I haven't had a cheque book for about ten years; didnt know they were still used! . All being well I'll get the Spitfire back on the road by the run, and I hope to do it with Paul, the friend I did my first RBRR with, 30 years ago.
