  1. Tim, i use spray adhesives, not had any difficulty with any brand so far. Current stock is simply called " Heavy duty spray adhesive" and is is unbranded in a yellow and blue tin bought from a local car accessory shop. I ve carpeted spitfire, toledo and my old 2000 with this stuff, plus i've done all my vans internal boarding covering in carpet using the same or similar. Also its not too difficult to remove the carpet from metal should you ever need to.
  2. Trent park golf club when I started, then a rugby club in potters bar for a very short period of time!
  3. So who exactly does get an event souvenir....... everyone that enters, or everyone that finishes? if it is the latter, then i know what i shall call it!!!
  4. And you need to be in certain parts of the country at certain times to makee it work. Welsh roads at night, Scotlands lanes during the day etc. Doin the run the other way round from the same start point would have you at Lands End by 1 or 2 am- a bit pointless, and you wont see much of the view!!
  5. Totally agree Keith. I was just wondering, because there are plenty of pics of the event already on FB and I hope people will load them here as well .
  6. Keith is there a "quick" way to link pictures into this? There is a lot of stuff on facebook now and I fear those pics will never make it onto the Club Triumph forum or album- what a shame that would be. Dave
  7. Seconded!! as mentioned in  the "Congratulations" thread it's filthy and they don't care a jot!!
  8. What a great event! I've done this a few times before, however this was different because there was no spannering involved until the overheating in the traffic on the M40! Many thanks to Craig Bennett for giving me the chance to drive his Stag (i want one!) with the roof down for the entire weekend- the best way to beat the tiredness! It was really good to meet some of the names we see regularly on the forum, and I think Chris and Zoe Sherrington did brilliantly cutting their teeth on their first run, as well as managing to help others along the way. All the stops were great; only two questions though- Did Seaview accidently mix up the coffee with the gravy granules (super stop other than that- the staff are so helpful there), and Lands End........what a filthy place, it's real shame there is no viable alternative and I guess they know it !! . A million thanks to the organising team yet again-This is the BEST event going!!
  9. have you checked the battery voltage and alternator output; some modern electric pumps won't run if the batt or supply voltage is below a certain threshold?
  10. yes it's electric pump and hydraulic reservoir mounted on the rack
  11. I bought my 3 rail with J type o/d box on ebay on ebay. It came with all the extras you need to fit it such as speedo cable, angle drive, crossmember etc. I bought it about 6 years ago for £120 . I dropped it straight off to the rebuilders, spent £225 having parts replaced and the O/D checked and it's been a fabulous box since then. Might be worth you looking for a cheapie and getting it rebuilt??
  12. They are just standard Spitfire mk4 /early spitfire 1500 ones.
  13. I would you suggest you phone Dave at Canleys and talk to him about it first.
  14. Hmm, where do I start; perhaps I should actually make a start on the car! jobs to do include brake pipes, wheel cylinders, wheels and tyres, exhaust(which I'm still trying to source), refit interior and gearbox cover, repair heater linkages, replace bushes in the gear selector extension, service and fluid change, pressure test rad, as I'm sure it's leaking, insurance, tax and find a co driver as mine have fallen by the wayside. Still, there's plenty of time isn't there??????
  15. Hi Andy, i must confess to looking at Herald estates recently, but i'm after something a bit less Spitfire-esque.
