  1. Richard, A bit of a polava but I've emailed you the picture from the workshop manual. My manual is on DVD and it wont let you pront screen and save to a file so I took a picture of the screen with my iphone and emailed it to you. Less hassle than printing it, scanning the print in, reducing the size so it would post on the forum etc..... The manual only shows one arrangement for all 1300 and 1500 dolly's both single and twin carbs so the choke cable attachment is the same as the twin carb set up on a spitfire I believe....
  2. Could have been an import, back in the day DVLA issued a reg number of the year of import rather than a Q plate.   My Dad had a S reg 73 MK1 Escort that was imported into the UK from the channel Islads in 1977 so the reg related to the year of import rather than the age of the car.
  3. You may need to cut/grind/file a bit of the seam as marked in red on the photo below. I had to do this on one side of my car but not the other such is the variance in Triumph bodywork!
  4. you'll need to jack up the suspension against the tension of the rear leaf spring, also make sure you have the right shock absorbers and make sure you fully extend them, they will be stiff as you are pulling against the damping but should be possible to open them out.
  5. Yes remove the body mounting bolts and spacers/rubber pads  at the rear and jack the body up slightly to give enough space to slide the brackets into place, I replaced the rubber pads when I fitted mine.
  6. The genuine workshop manual shows how to fit the factory kit to the earlier models. My 71 Rotoflex model had one fitted but Having had it reconditioned once and then failing again (admidtedly after about 50K miles/15 years of use) I replaced it with a Lockheed kit as it was cheaper to buy the Lockheed kit brand new than have the Girling Powerstop reconditioned. The Lockheed is also superior as it has a higher level of boost. You don't actually need a servo, it wont improve stopping power but it reduces how hard you have to press the pedal and if you drive modern cars this can be advantageous as modern cars need a lot less pedal pressure and it can be a bit disconcerting when you apply the same pressure as you would on your modern and the brakes barely come on! Pictures below show both types of servo as fitted to my car. Top picture with servo mounted longitudally is the original Girling Powerstop fitted as per the workshop manual instructions for the factory extra kit. Bottom Picture is the more modern Lockheed version, mounted crossways and at a slight angle.
  7. I've been using this kit for about 10 years on my GT6 with no issues. Some people don't like the way the shocks are tilted at an angle but I've found no issues with this in terms of handling. I recently replaced the mounting rubbers after 10 years as I had a squeak but it turned out not to be the rubber mounts so they didn't actually need replacing even after 10 years of use. Handling is good and no issues with bottoming out etc. Koni are definitely the best shocks in terms of longevity, they are expensive initially but compared with the likes of Spax, Gaz  and Avo etc will outlast several times over. Only issue is they cant be adjusted in situ. Officially they have to be adjusted officially off the car (although I have managed to adjust with the top mounts left in situ).
  8. Yep, Problem is some of the parts of Britain that we drive through are pretty remote and also in the middle of the night it's sometimes a case of filling up whenever you can rather than waiting to find a particular brand of fuel and risk running out....
  9. Team Turdy One AKA as team "Log" " Cookie and Bodders will be piloting "The Flying Log", 1500HL Dolly ex Darren Sharp car and previous RBRR finisher.

  11. I had a DElphi B&B one for the GT6 from one of the big suppliers who shall remian nameless and it had a 3 rivet friction plate in the kit. I was not too impressed but I needed to get the car back on the road at the time so I fitted it, fingers crossed it doesn't break. Laycock were always good but I think they are only available as NOS nowadays. Original fitment to GT6s were either Laycock or B&B. There are sometimes a few NOS Laycock or B&B clutches floating around on ebay sometimes that would be worth a punt. Had a look and there are only a couple of B&B NOS friction plates for a spit on there at the moment but worth keeping an eye out ibn case any come up.
  12. The entry list in the events section of the website is still the 2012 list, presume Jason realises this and just hasn't had time to update the events section yet but flagging it just in case it gets forgotten.
  13. Jason wrote:It's true, the list is a Brake free zone at the moment. It's going to take me a little more time to complete the full list due to work and home commitments but I'll get to it as soon as I can, I'll put up the name of each entrant as I receive the form, the rest will take me a while and I am concious that I have yet to formally acknowledge any entry - real life eh!? Gets in the way :-) Cant you employ some child labour to do the donkey work, you've got two sprogletts that could be exploited!

  15. timbancroft61 wrote:Richard and family need to get a wriggle on with their entries! Saw a comment on the RBRR racebook page from Jessica (who is now a Cook rather than a Brake!) to Steph saying that team fairy need to sort out thier entry...
  16. The SAH ones are like Rocking horse Poo now and command a very high price when they come up for sale 2nd hand on ebay, usually £200+. The later Triumphtune ones are a completely different design and are pretty much the same as the ones available from many sources today all beit with the adition of the Toilettune Triumphtune logo. I'm lucky enough to have one of the genuine original SAH rocker covers on the GT6 And no it's not for sale !!

  19. Interesting as I have steered clear of QH ones in the past just because of the rumours that only original genuine metalastic ones were any good. I did have some spares having managed to buy two new genuine one's on ebay for £25 a few years back (I think they had spelt rotoflex incorrectly as "rotaflex"  so no-one else saw them put in a bid :-) ) . I used my last spare earlier this year so from what I'm reading in this thread if I see any QH ones going cheap on ebay or at an autojumble it would be worth buying them to put in the spares cupboard.
  20. 4576 wrote:Our entry went in the post yesterday afternoon. Someone suggested on the facebook page that we should paint the car red and yellow and do the event dressed as Noddy and Big Ears. We'll not be, as i think I'll look silly enough squeezed in to the Moss Who on earth would have made the Noddy car and fancy dress comment..... Might even have been Moi  :( ;)
  21. There is a quite tidy MK2 2000 saloon with overdrive and long MOT on the TSSC Facebook group up for sale at the moment which looks like it would make an ideal RBRR car. I've posted a share to it on the RBRR facebook page....
  22. The other advantage of on line is that it helps our overseas members to get their entries in just as quickly as us Brits... In this day and age of smart phones, tablets, laptops etc I can't believe that there would be a team that couldn't get their entry in on line even if away for the weekend. The real technophobes may have an issue but I doubt if there are more than about 1 or two teams that would have no internet access at all and I'm sure that they could get another CT member to put their entry in for them...
  23. "Team Log" entry went in the postbox at about half past midnight last night, filled in after a few pints of ale down the pub but hopefully still legible!   Team Log consists of me, Bodders and the "Flying Log" Poo Brown Dolomite.... May add a 3rd driver nearer the time....
