  1. Wim very impressive. Looking at new cars Grey is back in fashion now too... You are bang up to date... Martin
  2. Canleys I have always used and as John Kipping before hand and always good service in the 30 years I had a Spitfire just a pity they don't do much Stag stuff....
  3. I agree with Clive and the East Sussex group are very welcoming many years of experience on small Vitesses and Heralds too...
  4. Wim always an interesting post as usual
  5. I think I would agree that I would expect it to have an MOT as this is a basic safety check. If the vendor doesn't want to do this I would expect he is hiding something? With no Mot I would expect a serious reduction in price as you are taking a risk in my view. I always have my Stag mot and it passed yesterday and I use it mainly as a safety check and yes it did pass....
  6. Interesting i have just changed from the dual socket seatbelt mount to individual one so that i can fit a TRR Centre console in the Stag and as Richard say they are white buttons.... One of the other reasons i changed them as they are getting on for 50 years old and i wanted something that was a bit newer..... You never know when you need them!
  7. If it was me I would have a bit more than i needed and keep it on the shelf incase you need to blow in a bit more, then you always have the right shade? I assume 2 K paint will not go off? You can never have too much but having not enough when you have in the middle of it is never good....
  8. Gents I have these on my Stag and i think that due to the issues on earthing these that they now have an seperate earthing tag that can be wired using an earth lead rather than the friction of fitting the bulb holders into the light fitting. I have recent replace all the rear lights on the Stag which are of a similar design and i used a mixture of old and new light bulb holders and made sure that all the tags were adjusted to provide a good contract to the light fitting and using a meter you can check how good the earth is. As Tim recommends talk to Canleys and i am sure they can advise? (as far as i am aware there is only one size but please check?)
  9. I have one of those adjusters on my Stag too very good....
  10. Richard looking good and getting closer to being back on the road...
  11. Simon I am 6 ft 2in and ran a spitfire for 30 odd years and had no problem with height. but as Clive said it is best to go and try one.... I would suggest keeping away from a Spitfire with a roll bar as they can restrict the ability to move the seat fully back and the later ones have reclining seats that do help too.... I did move onto a Stag and they are more comfortable and do have more space... Martin
  12. Dual circuit was only availible on very late 1500 as has been said. On some master cylinder you can get an adjustable operating rod that operates under the the rubber boot on the bulk head. It may be worth checking that there is not too much play in this. On my 1500 many years ago the hole had worn oval giving me too much travel... Just a thought...
  13. looks good almost an Inca Yellow to me? Martin
  14. I have got Standard Mintex pads in my Stag and they seem fine but i do seem to get more break dust than i use to but i am not sure what the pads were that were in there... Still thinking about the M1144s but they are alot dearer and i think i will wait until the standard Mintex have worn down abit
  15. Rob i agree with you standard Stag wheels are only 14 inch wheels so you won't need to change the wheels. Is the Master cylinder the same Stag to 2000/2500?
  16. Richard look really good. Looks like you will have two club cars on the road at the same time? I can blag a ride in it once it is on the road as I have never been in a P!?
  17. Should i make a comment that you can't beat a good tool.......😀
  18. Peter did mine he is based in Southern Ireland and i had to sent him an old dash and the re veneered it. He sometimes advertises on ebay too.... Due to the curves in the Stag dash he prefers to do your own dash and i got him the do both sides of the glove box.. Peter H <handmadebyheary@gmail.com>
  19. Gents many thanks just looking at options. I have some Hyundai Scope seats in at the moment and they are coming to the end of life....
  20. Just been looking at the Rimmer web site and I have seen these and comparing recovering and re-foaming standard Stag seats with leather the cost is fairly similar. Has any one any experience of fitting Tr6 seats into a Stag at all? I am guessing you can make anything fit if you try hard enough but i don't want to try too hard.... https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-RR1542 Martin
  21. Interesting question i suppose you could say that a car is a car and it doesn't matter how many pieces it is in? But as Clive says talk to the companies and see what they say. I think i have always had cars insured even if they are locked away and in a garage.
  22. Nick you are correct I think there may be "variation" in repro ARB and assuming they are the same diameter, I would also consider which one fits the best too. The other alternative is to have a look at another Spitfire and see which one best matches it?
  23. Amy interesting, I like the idea of having it wired in. I have a T bar on the Stag so the rear camera could be mounted on the T bar facing backwards the forward facing one on the top of the windscreen and the unit in the glove box with a power feed to the fuse box behind?
  24. Clive never been called the "right buyer" before probably because I didn't knock you down?
  25. Can anyone make a recommendation on a dash camera at all? There seems to be so many out there which such a range of prices i am not sure what to go for? There are ones that can replace the rear view mirror and I was thinking that this may be an idea as it may not be so obvious its there and if I forget to remove it I may get aware with it. Any thoughts ?
