  1. I had a stag A type gearbox and overdrive rebuilt locally and all in needed was main shaft bearings and apart from that it was fine. It was cleaned up and new gaskets and seals put in. My Stag is a 1976 so it has a J type so i have decided not to keep this as a spare. It can come with a gear leaver and mounts for the right price It has probably cost me £950 so i would like something in that order Give me a call if you are interested? Martin 0781 232 6211
  2. So could you buy a new one and have it re chromed would that work?
  3. Interesting car, It has a bulge in the bonnet as if it had a V8 in it but it has a straight six, I just wondered was the engine raised in the engine bay to fit the 4 x 4 transmission in underneath thus it need the extra clearance?
  4. Don't forget the provisional big Triumph/TSSC event at Silverstone is on the following weekend i.e. the 10th and 11th June and I know i won't get a pass out for consecutive weekends.....
  5. Roger sorry for the delay you now have a PM Many thanks
  6. I see the request for the best modification has thrown up some interesting ideal (I am going to be looking up Fiat Coupe seats) But what is the worst modification that you will own up to doing? I'll kick this of with removing the paint and polishing up the headlight surround on a 1500 Spitfire. It took me ages to do and it didn't look great so I swapped them back... Much better painted
  7. Can anyone recommend a period looking but modern featured radio? I'd like to use my iPod, DAB would be good, it needs to be a DIN mounted rather than spindles and ideally it would be about to Bluetooth to my phone and be able to work hands free. The car is a 76 Stag I want something that looks period but is usable Any advice?
  8. There is always interesting discussions on modifications to cars. What do people think is the best modification to their cars? I suspect an overdrive conversion will come near the top of the list ?
  9. I think you are probably about right Clive but it is the transportation cost that would eat this up. Clive have you not thought about it as I know you like the Rat look?
  10. Does it have a chassis with it or is it just a bodyshell? Martin
  11. John unless i have missed something would you not start with a 13mm spanner and open that up to 13.25mm?
  12. Tony Many thanks mine turned up Saturday afternoon I assume it was the one you send in the post ?(It was in a standard A4 white envelope) Many thanks Martin

  16. Michael I think you are on the wrong site I assume you are talking about Triumph Motorbikes? Club Triumph to all about Triumph cars.....
  17. Simon I assume that all items are new not second hand?
  18. Nick I successfully sold my 2.5 Spitfire on ebay. You will get the odd tyre kickers or the odd chancers but if you list it truthfully i would have thought you would have got more than that... Phots always help i find....
  19. With all the challenges with Stags and keeping them cool eg header tanks, alloy rads and electric fans etc the consensus seems to be that you don't need an oil cooler on a Stag? Can someone explain the logic on this at all? I would have thought that a thermostatically controller oil cooler would have helped and I am always surprised that the Stag only need 4.5 litres of oil not much more than a 6 cylinder...
