  1. I would agree with Clive I ran Solid mounts on my 2.5 spitfire for  10 year plus and it was fine. I would never describe it as harsh. Positive Yes. Martin
  2. DJT Interesting that was in the back of my mind too... I assume Ricardo's assisted in the design of the engine ? Do you have any details? Martin
  3. Clive thanks for that just ordered the 20 ibs one Martin
  4. I have seen this Minispares 20 psi oil warning light which might be an idea for the Stag does anyone know if the Triumph and Mini oil warning light switch is interchangeable?  I am talking old not BMW Mini Martin
  5. I used to find that if I had the tick over to low mine slowed down. Do they speed up if you rev it? Martin
  6. Roger many thanks they do and I have just ordered one! Martin
  7. I have treaded myself to a Tony Hart Alternator kit that moves the alternator up higher on the passenger side. Has anyone fitted this and do they have any tips? Also it mentions extending the wiring but no more.  I assume the cabling needs to be of a reasonable gauge and is the easiest way of doing it to buy a new alternator plug and make up a loom back to where the existing plug is? Tony mentions running this along the radiator panel again any tips would be appreciated? Martin
  8. OBE so that is interesting to know. Let me know how you get on and what you find out? Martin
  9. Neil  thanks for this I think I will take your advise and leave it as is. thanks Martin
  10. Julian That was my understanding to. But has anyone done it? I subscribe to Clive S view on modification that as long as it doesn't change the overall design of the car it is fine. My next door neighbour runs a bespoke exhaust service a I was dreaming about a pair of Freeflow exaust boxes plus a x crossover pipe. Martin
  11. So has anyone fitted a x pipe to s Stag and if so does it sound any better and was there any noticeable performance difference? Martin
  12. Just as a bit of an update I cheated I just cut of the remaining two brackets and used self tappers to hold it in place. It now sits back an inch closer to the engine but it looks ok. I'll have a better look when I get it out of the garage. Martin
  13. Same colour as my Stag. Is it a previous version of a Stag? . It would be interesting to get a photo of the youngest and oldest car (not driver) on the RBR! I will confess that Clive has got to go on my First RBR after 35 years of owning a Triumph. Luckily I have an excellent chauffer! Martin

    BB1 seats

Sorry but what are BB1 seats? I have never heard of them? Martin
  15. Thanks for all your input looks like the best option, I think, is the Tony Hart Supergill radiator so I have just ordered one.. I am going to try and run it without an additional electric fan and see how if goes. Another question I do have is  the Thermostat the same as a Spitfire /GT6 and what temperature should it be? Thanks Martin
  16. Tim So Mr Senior is suggesting I may like to participate in his Toledo  so next year may be my first year.... Martin
  17. Julian I had thought of getting new brackets welded on but it is finding a proficient welder is half the challenge. I did use your suggestion of  screws but with a washer to make the head of the screw bigger. It doesn't look like the best of designs in the first place! Martin
  18. Just been working on the Stag today and I had to take the radiator grill off the front of the car. I know when I put it on last time one of the u shaped bracket had broken off and this time when taking it of I noticed that one more had broken off. So now I am down to two. Rather that buying a new grill I was wondering if I could remove the two remaining brackets and then turn up 4 spacers to replace them. But it there a better way of doing this? Hope this makes sense? Martin
  19. Clive Collins issue was what made me think of this. I think the radiator looks a bit fragile and I think it may be the original so it could be 40 years old..... I have the electric fan to fit but following Andy Cooks experience on electric fans I am having a think about that too! I think I will take the radiator out and give it a reverse flush and take a view from there.... I think I will add the Stagwebber fan shrouds to the radiator too. I think this will increase the effecency Martin
  20. Gents I have to take my radiator out over the winter and I have been looking at all the radiators on ebay both original and Aluminium. I am aware that some of the Chinese Alloy ones are  a bit on the thin side but I was wondering should I spend the extra and get a UK Alloy one or an I wasting my time? Also which are the stronger for that un-expected stone attack moment? Any advise would be gratefully received Martin
  21. Clive so perhaps this could be your new car as you have a liking for Ford engines Triumphs? Martin Standard engine mounts for a Stag are the same as GT6 ones for people that don't know.
  22. Beans So is it as simple and putting it in a lath and facing it off to get a smooth surface/ Do you have to be careful you don't take too much off? Martin

  24. One of the most silly features of the Stag is the location of the battery and having to remove  the steering pump to get to it. Is there any reason why the steering pump was not on the other side of the engine thus leaving access to the battery?   How have people resolved the issue? I have heard of batteries being moved to under the hood load cover or in the boot or is there a better solution? Martin
  25. So with 4 x 1 3/4 butterflys for a 2.5 V8 it sound too large for me . I used to run my 2.5 Spitfire on 2 x 1 3/4. So would this be why low end torque was an issue?  So should they have just reduced the size of the butterflys? It can't be that simple? Martin
