  1. Gents just had notification from Rimmers (and other supplier are availible) that they are on their Webb site. Hopefully i am not breaking any rules i have added the link here... https://rimmerbros.com/ItemList--Triumph-Fuel-Spotlight--m-27408?src=WEBOFFR&utm_source=Newsletter&utm_medium=Email&utm_content=Inhouse&utm_campaign=230222_SWW_NONUS
  2. Tim apart from it was in the Courier mag that is all i have seen....
  3. Is it that simple? I assume it needs not to touch the steel bodywork of the car too?
  4. John it would be good to see some Triumphs on track at the event.....
  5. Andy perhaps you should do that to the GT6 that would get some looks!😁
  6. Didn't the early 1600 Vitessse have Solexs are they similar?
  7. At Stoneleigh they had some very nice Aluminum 4 pot calipers for the Stag. The were £600ish and i am not convinced that i needed them. The Stag brake calipers are the same as early Ford transits and thus brake pads are very cheap compared with most Stag items.... What I will probably do is to remove the dust shields and possibly go M1144s next time I replace the pads. But I use the Stag for "wafting around" rather than thrashing it so no real need!
  8. I'd agree with Clive a boot fair is as good a place as any and i would go for one where you can load it with oil or grease. They are normally a £5 or so so.... If you are desperate I think Halfords still do them Martin
  9. John with the original low mileage one i agree with what has been said and i would budget for replacing all rubber bushes, shocks and brake pipes too just in case. I brought and original Stag and it was original but at 45 years old needed quite a bit of re commissioning.....
  10. I had a 2.5 Spitfire for 30+years and decided i needed something more "grown up and comfortable" as you do when you get older. Looking at the TRs they were not much bigger that the Spitfire and i am guessing much slower and thus were dismissed.... Tim is right about the "point and squirt" of a Spitfire/GT6 especially with Cvs/rotoflex.. As you can guess from my user name the route I went and the Stag is a nice old GT cruiser and can be husseled along and does handle very well surprisingly. They sound really good too! The down sides sure it could do with more power and i am always trying to make sure there are no noises from the engine and praying it doesn't go bang..... But if you can get over that i would suggest you go and drive a good one. i was in the lucky position of having them both for a while and had the choice of driving either and i found that the Spitfire was no being driven much, which said it all..... So it was moved on....
  11. Not had any takers so far so i would consider less please make me an offer and it could take it to Stoneleigh if that helps? Martin
  12. Clive i am 90& sure there is a different offset too.....
  13. See you love the Jazz realy.......
  14. Just looked up merde...... 😆 could be usefull....
  15. Martins Stag

    overdrive

Agree with Clive on this, Re 3rd gear and 3rd overdrive i do find it good going up hill and keeping momentum, as moving from 3rd to 3rd overdrive you keep the drive going while changing and don't slow down whereas changing from 3rd to 4th you have to disengage drive to make the gear change....
  16. Wasn't the 1600 Gearbox a bit on the weak side for a 2 litre if i remember correctly and more of a Herald 1300 gearbox? My recommendation would be modify a 1500 sptifire/ 1850 Dolomite box for a 2 litre engine....
  17. Dave L I have fitted Hyundai Scope Seats to my Stag and the issue is as you move them further back they come into contact with the Seat belt top mount on the B Pilar. So be careful you don't get anything too wide at the top? The alternative i have considered is removing the raised channels on the floorpan so they sit lower but then you can't go back to the original seats... They are very good but not perfect....
  18. I don't think Mr Senior will be taking the "lemon tart"? so he will be ok....
  19. Ah room for the Triumph Halo car then, you know you want a Stag?
  20. Andy the GT6 is still looking good after all these years Martin
  21. Rob I had a P clip on my bellhousing too. I used to run some 3 in 1 oil into the cable and the angel drive with the aim to reduce friction and brakage within the angle drive do people think this is a good idea? I always think that the angle drive is always the weakpoint and I have found that they can break. They are easy enough to replace but need the transmission tunnel to be taken out which is a pain. I would also cut an inspection hatch in the side of the gearbox cover to enable you to access the top up plug on the gearbox to save you having to take the whole cover out aswell... ?
  22. I would agree with Clive on this we have tried other cheaper examples but I would recommend the TSSC one the facilities are soo much better.... I could tell you some stories about the French run camp sites but you may be eating....
  23. Jason I would think so, I assume you have an angle drive too? Make sure you have the right end to attach to your speedo too and i think there we two different ends? I would also suggest to try and make the installation of the cable as smooth as possible so there are no tight bends....
  24. Looks interesting I have it in my diary and it should not clash with too much in June....
