  1. Magazine is a bit confusing, Ellis mention that entries open later in November, however no formal announcement of the date yet, so no other means to make it public than through the website (or secretary notes if in December) unless we are glued to the forum we might miss the date, and IIRC last time round the roster filled within a few days. Can we at least have an heads up send before the entry opens?  Cheerz Dirk
  2. I know Theo, silly thing is that we had the trailer over there but they refused to take the car down south again because too expensive with the AA. The grouped transport brought it to Belgium for 1000 euro's. At first they said next week but once i was booked and inside the terminal i got a text saying November.  If they only had send the message one hour earlier I would have turned round and picked her up myself. As we broke down on the 6th and they said the car would be home on the 5th I can only assume that their subcontractor has a month for recovering the car and that he must have put out a tender for anyone to bring it over earlier. At a certain stage I got a mail saying the car would be here 3rd week October so i am assuming that they found someone willing to take on the job but when it subsequently fell through they had to send their transporter up at the last moment. As the car has a tracker I know they picked her up on Friday 2nd November and were on the overnight ferry from hull Saturday. They are all very politically correct and apologetic and overall except for the delay I can not complain, it was even funny to see that each time I made a inquiry or complaint there was some reaction. First when I googled the location the tracker said it was outside, I rang them up and although they claimed not to have any control over it the car was moved indoors about one hour later, then when i complained that because of the bank holiday the car was not going to be in Belgium on 5th again the car was moved to make it ready for pick up I guess.
  3. Not sure if it is a forum Bug or something went wrong during the creation of your profile but i seem not to be able to send you a PM, Please send me a PM, my contact details should be public by clicking on my profile picture or through the model consultant tile to the side of this thread. Send me a few words of the history, where the car is and a picture if possible together with an email I can use to reply Dirk
  4. good evening sally ann, Best place to start would be in contacting the Razoredge club they can advise you in prices and condition etc, Roger Stone is their magazine editor and member of  Club triumph, he might pop in here and contact you, if not I'll send you the contact details in PM. Limousines are quite rare, they were build on a 3 inch longer chassis than the normal renowns and were intended for the chauffeur driven manager. The chassis number should end with LIM and be something like TDB (or TDC) 1234 LIM. As far as I know all came ex factory with a glass division between driver and rear, although one is know to survive without the division but might have been altered sometime later in life. As a concept they were not that successful, most of the extra length went into the front doors, the rear compartment did not really benefited from the extra 3 inches.  I am not going to give you guide price, I don't think the club allows this, and even if they did so it would be very irrelevant without seeing the car, a lot of it depends on condition and originality and ranges from a few hundred pounds into 5 figures. They are quite capable cars, I drove mine ( a normal TDB) twice round Britain during our RBRR without problems. I'm not sure if the new website allows you to put up pictures as a newly registered member but otherwise we do like pics and as they say they are better than a 1000 words. (although Roger would disagree and like a few words for an article in the magazine) Dont hesitate to contact them, you'll see they are a friendly bunch kind regards Dirk Devogeleer
  5. took them a month, but today she arrived home, Thank god they used the transporter next size up! Now to investigate what went wrong but that will have to wait till next month, i'm off to work tomorrow   D
  6. ...and I would miss `batter and chantter`with such good colleagues like yourself!...its part of eventing 🙂 I might add that you are getting a bit soft with age mike! No more battery powered flood lights under a gazebo but a nice warm and cosy shopping mall with all services under one roof.  Incidentally we stopped for fuel and to put the roof up (after all had passed us and seen us brave the elements) did not realize we were at Blight until I paid for the fuel. D

  8. Do we have to change anything? We only made one control in time this year, so i can not speak of the other new controls, nor of the traffic jams leaving or entering... The route seems to be tuned to a fine point, and I do agree that faster roads are available which is good for us in the slow end of the pack to try and make up some time, as example we have completelly bypassed the A68 this year, driving up to Newcastle and then to Carter bar. Same for the wales sections, in our car they are not too enjoyable especially at night, so I was glad to see sugarloaf being dropped, but a sad we have not had the opportunity to test the new sections. Having a sweeper might be tempting, but IMO against the spirit of the RBRR, and then who would have spares to get a gloria going again. Being forced to do roadside repairs is time consuming so even if a skilled mechanic team comes along time lost will probably mean you wont be able to make the controls in time. For me part of the challenge is to get the car round without assistance, even if we have failed to do so this year. With a sweeper/ mechanics I get a vision of Mille Miglia set up's where there are more assistance than runners. Just keep the spirit where one stops if he sees a bonnet up and try to assists.  D
  9. Same here Alex, same here! a wonderful joyful bunch they are! Anyone over in Belgium needing a hand, feel free to call D
  10. It would seem that they have now moved the car and she is indoors. The insurance cy also has moved forward the delivery date with 14 days, so now that's reasonable also. As long as Phil doesnt get a bad vibe from his visit I think that we will let the insurers run with it. THanks all, And sure, it goes without saying that any assistance needed when over here please feel free to call. Pony Express works 2 ways (at least in my and CT's book it does!)   Cheerz Dirk
  11. Hi Tim, No problem in sending my details to club members. Phil is going to have a look at the car later this afternoon and we'll take it from there. Thanks all for the assistance,  Dirk
  12. Hi Rob and Phil, thanks for the offer, I have emailed Phil and for the time being the only thing I would love is to make sure that the bad vibes I get from the google street view pictures are unfunded. the insurance company was very apologetic but they work with partners and of course can not control all storage places over the world. They did offer me the opportunity to organize my own transporter as long as the prices are in line with the offer of the AA. I have emailed Sterling motor transports, with whom i have had dealings before to see if they could perform the pick up for me so am waiting what their offer will be.  the stupid thing is that the insurance cy did not want to bring the car back to kneb through the aa relay system because too expensive and I did not ask them, with our trailer being at Kneb, for them to organize transport for us to Kneb, pick up the trailer and drive north to the car... Ah well lesson learned, Just got reply from Phil through Email that he will have a look at the location tomorrow. Beer tokens, or waffles whatever fancy, due. Amazing the spirit of Club Triumph!   Thanks all! Dirk
  13. well done! I need to doff my hat to you sir! I also said that after this one I would be not longer entering, but seen that the gloria has unfinished business here, and that for the short run we did manage to do I felt confident that we could manage the same kind of timings as with the renown, I guess we will be giving it an other try. So what need to be done, Get the car back, repair the engine, get an overdrive gearbox somehow slotted it (or change the final drive) make sure the instruments are all visible and accurate for the driver to see (probably will install an aftermarket "bike" speedo cluster) and make the electrics reliable. D
  14. Hello All, We are back home safely sadly without the car. I  believe that after the first overheating the headgasket went and that was game over. I am not sure why she overheated and what has caused the radiator blockage, i am sure we'll find out once the car is back. We left the car in the good care of our friends from the AA at Edinburgh airport and continued our journey in an Enterprise van.. As the car is equipped with a tracker i googled the position this morning and am shocked at the street view images of where the car supposingly is. I would not leave a bike there! She might be inside the hangar but i suspect she is not.  Houston Industrial Estate Muir Pl, Livingston EH54 5BF, UK 55.912338, -3.504530 more bad news is that the transporter will only pick her up on 5th of November, imagine the damage the Scottish weather will have done to an approximately waterproof car! I have contacted the insurance company this morning and am trying to arrange either an earlier pick up or organize my own, perhaps even coming back over to the UK and pick her up myself. So my question: Anyone in the neighborhood that could have a look for me to see in what conditions the car is stored?
  15. Hi Howard, Thanks first for the files, saves us a lot of slogging! I successfully uploaded them to OsmAnd + straight from the mail. once I clicked there is the option of saving it as favorites or use it as gpx track. once that done it will show up in your gpx folder where you can select it for navigation. Obviously i have not yet tried to navigate your files but tested it with a different gpx file on a local rally last weekend. One thing that bothered is that it will not jump to the next WP if you miss the actual one because of a detour. You then have to ask him to jump to the next point. I was not successful in uploading it to my regular nav, Navitel, which tells me that there is no track info in the file, but here i just used the waypoints and will route point to point. For those that struggle to upload the WP from the CVS file, try swapping lat and long column, some programs use an different convention.  THanks again and see you all friday! D
  16. if i recall correctly you can not enter or edit the extra drivers but have to email jason to add them, the reason i believe was to keep control of the numbers of persons they have to cater for D
  17. our problem will mostly be the lack of a boot...  as everything is possibly different from the later triumphs our spares will be plugs, bulbs, delco, nuts and bolts, Oil and whatever we can think of and that fits in the restricted space, our spannering is limited to basic stuff, so no real point in bringing a spare camshaft.... D
  18. I can see a future classic breeding! well done to all and roll on the next edition... Cheerz D
  19. Hi  Thanks all, Clieve you are right, it was because of that drawing that I posted the question to start off with. But thinking it a bit through they can only fit between the doorcard and door. 44 is a soft rubber style washer, I guess to keep the draught out. I have fitted one door, with the big end to the door, not without difficulties I must say, in the end I used an old spring with the new one I just could not push it back far enough to slip the pin in. I'll do the other door tomorrow and turn the springs around, see what difference it makes... Cheers and thanks for the replies   D
