Hi Thanks all, 44 is a soft rubber style washer, I guess to keep the draught out. I have fitted one door, with the big end to the door, not without difficulties I must say, in the end I used an old spring with the new one I just could not push it back far enough to slip the pin in. I'll do the other door tomorrow and turn the springs around, see what difference it makes... Cheers and thanks for the replies D

To have the car ready for the 10CR we took a few shortcuts, one of which was to mount the window wipers and door handles temporary fastening them with a b-clip. I have now ordered the correct Escutcheon and springs. Which raises a question, where and how does the spring fits? From the part drawing I believe that the small end is against the handle with the widest part against the door, but the question is do they fit below or on top of the door cards? The spring seems to be too wide to be covered by the Escutcheon when installed.... :( Cheerz Dirk Sorry for the double posting under the members section, not yet used to navigate the new forum....

The only issue with how Triumph did the OD wiring is that the OD relay is switched by putting it to Earth. (switch in the earth side of the relay) If you have any wiring shaving through and making contact with earth then the OD engages, which might not be as you want. The inhibitor switch on reverse should prevent the OD from engaging in reverse, but that one can fail too. If you put the switch in the lead from ignition then if you have a ground fault either, nothing happens (ground fault in the earth side) or you blow a fuse (ground between relay and switch). Dirk

Bit of your fault really, you having convinced my wife that a Stag would be a good next investment. Had to spend the money quickly before she made up her mind.... D -
Who's got what to do for 2018 ?

Thanks Dave, Yes I have some of the history, it was owned by a friend of ours some 10 years ago, he bought it as a rolling restoration . The guy who had stated the restoration had passed away and the family asked a friend of theirs to complete it so they could sell it on. no need to guess that it was done on a shoestring budget with many wrong parts. It is better now. Before that I dont know, it was registered in dec 1936 but how it ended up from Devon to Doncaster I dont know. Would you know where in Devon GOU was used? I bought it from Mike Webster, who in a previous life used to own Bond Cars, he showed me a 4 wheeled Bug, which they first made as a conversion with his brother before acquiring the whole company. He has used the SX in the land's end trial, so it is reliable. If it will last the RBRR we'll have to see. -

That's the first step done.... Delivery in Belgium is only on Thursday, so that should allow the chunnel backlog to be cleared. -

Who's got what to do for 2018 ?
Saltddirk replied to Steve28's topic in Round Britain Reliability Run (RBRR)
Richard is closest Not a 6 cylinder though, my finances don't stretch that far, more mundane 4 cylinder Southern Cross. But dont get the expectations too high,1. it's not in the country yet, let hope the snow has melted enough to collect her today and deliver on thursday 2, needs to be registered and taxed in Belgium first, DVLA is being cross and has not yet send the new paperwork, without these I can not import and register in Belgium 3. Need to be driven first, see if it will be doable I know that she will be able to obtain the average speed we need, but can the same be said about the driver and co driver? this is not a comfy Renown, nor can it accommodate a team of 3.... If all that fails it will be the back up car, the Spitfire... Read all about it in the next edition of Club torque, available from any good bookstore near to you soon! LOL D -

RBRR 2018 IMPORTANT NOTICE
Saltddirk replied to Tim Bancroft's topic in Round Britain Reliability Run (RBRR)
It even worked from here, Offshore Egypt using a satellite up link that goes first to Gooney Hill then via land lines back to Cairo and then to some mickey mouse outfit in the States that does the webfiltering and censorship for the company I work for before being let loose in the Wild internetty side of things. That is until I had to make the payment, for which I came not prepared (did not bring my card reader) and it then dropped out. But thanks to CT members who volunteered to cough up the cash up front for me, without me asking, just because they wanted to help my entry is in! Now try to find another Club that does this. Makes me feel warm... Dirk -

RBRR 2018 IMPORTANT NOTICE
Saltddirk replied to Tim Bancroft's topic in Round Britain Reliability Run (RBRR)
Well, it all worked for me until the payment verification, one of my cards uses a reader and i do not have that one with me the other uses a verification text send by mobile and we're out of mobile reach By the time this will be solved I'm sure were bottom of the reserve list No way to enter the run on credit? get a entry in and pay later? use Paypal? get somebody else to cough up the entrance fee for me and pay back later.... C'mon Tim, you are never gonna get a Gloria to run the event this way.... D -

Awww! Got through to all the screens with a lot of waiting for CT... Only to have the payment rejected. My card uses either a special reader for verification, which I dont have with me or send a code through a text on the mobile but we are offshore out of mobile reach.... gutted... Let hope there will be some slots left by mid December... D -

Who's got what to do for 2018 ?
Saltddirk replied to Steve28's topic in Round Britain Reliability Run (RBRR)
Just bought a (the) car for the event....if SWMBO allows it and I can persuade Shaun it's a good idea.... One year is plenty for us to get it ready, in fact it would not be fun if the car was ready more than a week in advance. Some of us like pushing the outside of the envelope. D -
let the 10CR as it started, a hardcore drive but choose a different venue, away from the Alps add a new event as a re-edition of the Alpine trials. Triumph did well in those. A few overnight stops, should be challenging enough and pleasing for us old gits that want a comfy bed in the evening. This was the route they took in 1932
