    The RBRR has existed and run since 1965, its always been a similar format - starts in London, goes to John O'Groats, Lands End and back to London. Its evolved, its had too, but change it substantially and it won't be the RBRR. If people want an event that is different, then they should create one, after all they don't have to do the RBRR ! - there's plenty enough who do want to do it as it is, as the BEST Club Driving event in the world Leave the RBRR to evolve naturally, if it ain't broke don't mend it

    I quite like WZL very atmospheric - great bacon butty - I know there were a few moans about the drive through the town - ignore them - what's a few extra miles, far far better than M5 services, to be honest a few more stops like WZL wouldn't go amiss, a least our cars weren't surrounded by Moderns Pimperne - I had my best drive ever to this stop - didn't mind it at all this time - don't know why, but it worked well this year, but we did get out of Badgers Holt early, which may have made all the difference Knebworth was good, and worth the extra money in my view In fact all the changes were very good and much enhanced the RBRR, except the queuing at Blythe - that was caused by all the cars exiting onto the A1 at Knebworth at the same time - more marshalls at Blythe perhaps - OR a WZL type stop perhaps A1 had roadworks as per previous years - just in a different place, and as usual the diversion was no issue

    For the past few RBRR's I have driven home to Birmingham afterwards.  We always allow two to three hours after the finish before we do this. Pre event we plan driver change overs, - it never happens as planned, because they change dependent upon the Driver's ability to drive safely, sometime longer stints, sometimes shorter. We know our limits and drive accordingly. The event is as safe as it can be, you can never regulate for the "dumb" as they will always ignore sense and the rules, and this is not the organiser's fault - rest  breaks are set out and enforced at the control stops. Its worked for 50 years, is that not good enough ?  Its like trying to regulate for bad driving, how can you do this ? I thought this years RBRR exhibited a lot better driving skills than previous years, and bar one incident I witnessed (when Anne was driving within a mile of Lands End) other drivers were considerate and careful. Although she did get an apology from the driver concerned when she discussed his driving with him at Lands End ! Leave the event alone and look forward to the next one.

    If you cannot get any taps. make one out of a spare bolt that is the correct size. Simply use a hacksaw and put 2 slots in the threads parallel to the length of the bolt - the slots will remove the paint once you get the bolt in the thread = its not as hard or as sharp as a tap. so don't force it, half a turn at the time then undo, clean the slots out and go again, repeat until the thread is clear. you may need to do this with a couple of spare bolts if you have a lot of threads to clear out, as the slots will wear

    There should be a bonded rubber ring between the metal ring that holds the fan belt, and the inner fitting that goes on the crankshaft - its not unusual for the older ones to loose the bond, allowing the outer ring to slip - which also makes the timing marks off. There's an american company (forget the name) that will rebond them, or Moss sells repros mike

    I think you will be lucky, I know a Ford dealer who is changing eco boost engines under warranty, like they have gone out of fashion. A significant number fail early, I am told at under 50,000 miles, it appears that there is too much power extracted from too small an engine.

    I haven't ever seen any different front hubs - maybe its a part number with fitted wire wheel studs ?  the spline adapter always bolts on to front and rear hubs/axles, and when you convert to wire wheels from standard you simply cut the studs down and then bolt the splined adapters on - unbolt the adapter and try fitting a wheel apart from short studs I see no reason why it won't fit

    The splines hubs have very short studs so that they don't foul the wheel, these will be too short to use with normal wheels (well safely anyway) - its easy to knock the old studs out, and pull the new ones in using a wheel nut - you don't even have to remove the wheel hubs

    Not something I would care to repeat, there's a battery box for a large battery going into the boot soon, with heavy duty cabling back to the Starter / alternator etc, and a new larger alternator.  I need the space under the bonnet for an air intake duct to the airbox and Jenvey throttle bodies 🙂

    I can assure you that you can still moan as Knebworth can be reached from Didcot, via A34 / M40 / M25 / A1M  if you chose to stick to a "traditional route" - all you miss is the last free flowing section to the Plough if you go that way 😀
