  1. Having spent all weekend fixing this I can say that it's not a job I wish to repeat.... but I did discover the passenger side also needs doing. I've done a quick repair for now! Just got to clean and waterproof as weather allows.
  2. Still attacking the roof as the hole got bigger... Anyone else have Teflon stickers? Mine started to fall off as I was putting them on.
  3. Have the rules changed recently? I was in Paisley, Glasgow, Fort William, Pembrokeshire and Snowdonia in August and the rules weren't really any difference to how they were in England. If nothing has changed, expect the England summer rules apply?
  4. Given up for the night as I can't see the end of the needle any more. Certainly not perfect, but it's better than a big hole in the roof.
  5. Having just popped into Sainsburys for a top (of wine) I wish I filled the van up to the brim yesterday now. I only put in £60 thinking I'd not need more than half a tank...They've run out of diesel and the queue for petrol is rather long, with sections of the car park closed to help manage them. I think the Herald has some in it. I probably should check.
  6. I'd imagine that most of our stops will be OK due to the nature of them bring busy plus our advanced warning. Rather than being able to order fuel to be delivered within 24 hours BP are currently asking stations to order day in advance. The only place I'm worried about is Wick Tesco. It's out of the way and out of holiday season.
  7. Keep in mind I'm not using a Triumph engine. 9. We've got a thread for which spares people will be carrying, so I thought it wise for one on what not to carry - to reduce confusion. This is also a reminder of what was stated at the drivers meeting. This will be my 7th entry and on my first I carried two spare wheels, brakes pads, everything! Don't carry what you aren't willing to repair. Don't carry what you aren't capable of repairing. Don't carry anything unless you also include the additional items to facilitate that repair. As an example, my last run (2018) resulted in failure due to a rear UJ. It took me two days to replace that UJ at home with the use of a large vice. So I know that's not a repair I will do at the side of the road, but others might. To get around that, I have seen others carry entire rear assemblies on the event which is a great idea as it means you're covered for rear brake failure as well as UJ and bearing. But not all of those cars carry both sides, axel stands, brake fluid, the tools to adjust and set the handbrake and brakes. Pretty soon in a small chassis car you're running out of space for the entrants and you may as well tow a donor car with you. So don't carry thermostats, pumps, etc unless you have hose clamps, gaskets, sealants and clips. Think about how YOU would repair that at the side of the road and if you can't or won't do it, don't carry it. And if you're worried about an item now, replace it this week and test it at the weekend.
  10. It looks for gps sections in specific areas, outside of those it's doing nothing. You can turn it on a few miles either side if the control and it will work as intended.
  11. Car needs a complete rebuild. We'll it will now I gave it a quick wash. That's normally an excuse for something to go twang.
  12. 1144 never made a noise for me on either set I've gone through. My 1155 make a tiny noise. They do get very hot on a regular basis though. Maybe that's the difference?
  13. Been there, done that. It's a weird feeling of macho pride, guilt and panic to find a good second hand vice!
  14. What's everyone packing to feed Monday's RBRR belly? Not fully made my mind up yet, but I'm thinking lots of jerky, peperami, loads of water, electrolyte tablets and chocolate. I might even be naughty and pack some fruit. I don't tend to eat a lot on the event, but like to pack too much. It'll just get eaten later at work. To ease tiredness, I do strongly advise plenty of plain water and some electrolyte tablets or Dioralyte sachets. It works better than energy drinks and doesn't prevent rest. Percy Pigs or jelly beans are also favorites on endurance events to keep energy levels up.
  15. E10 was meant to be in pumps on 1st September. Is it? Dunno.
  16. Do you need someone to stand behind you and help? I can buy a cigar.
  17. I've got 1155's now and I'm very happy with them in all conditions.
  18. Both aren't incorrect. But this is the item; https://www.advancedautomotives.co.uk/sytec-motorsport-msv-silver-adjustable-fuel-pressure-regulator-8mm--gauge-11839-p.asp
  19. I always got around 32mpg on a Triumph 4-pot - 1300 and 1500 varieties. I get 28-34 mpg out of what's in there now. I've just fitted a new FPR so hope to have a bit of a play with its settings and a tinker with the laptop on the way to the first control stop.
  20. That's an engine oil flush and change done. Handbrake reset and anything which can be greased, greased. So TRE, steering, UJ's and wheel bearings front and back.
  21. I think it's pretty clear. Door open at 10:30 which means at that moment you can walk in, get your pack, take a seat and say hello to people. Tim said the expectation is that an hour later the meeting will start. If people want to waste time, turn up late or extend that time then it starts later than the expectation.
  22. Currently trying to diagnose a fuel issue. I'm hoping it's the cheap regulator I fitted a few year ago and not the rather expensive pump! If you floor and and get boost it's fine, but then runs so lean it bunny hops. Says to me the regulator is sticking.
