  1. Call term back and ask for clarification about what they've said. If they repeat it, ask for confirmation of the facts by email. You're entitled to record the conversion as well and I'd suggest you do this from the start. Then use their responses to inform the insurance ombudsman that they are heavily discouraging you to use what you are paying for. They are aware you need to claim and are saying you will be penalised if you do. Whether you do or not you claim, you are still in a position where they are aware you need to so are stating they will penalise you for needing to use the services you have paid for. It doesn't matter whether or not you use them now as the facts remain - they will record that you need them and they are saying no to helping. Remember that this is also not your accident, but a failure from someone else to remain at a RTC which happened when you were not in attendance and are now financially impacted in a negative way. Plus this new stress. When you are reporting them, make them aware. Expect them to go into major bum clinching mode and bend over to help, but still screw you over. Report them anyway. The way they are behaving (from what you've stated) is unacceptable.
  2. OK, not strictly a RBRR video. But at 20s you can see me against a TR8. This has nothing to do with why my UJ broke on the last event... honest. 192785715_307594840840290_3277967672002451428_n.mp4
  3. I'm not a fan of those pads either, but I don't think they're at fault here. How hard is your "hard braking"? If it's anything less than an emergency stop, then they shouldn't lock.
  4. I tried to fit some standard issue leather Rover 200 seats as well. They ended up way too high and rubbed the b-post. Recaro seats may be a tiny bit smaller?
  5. You're looking at MGF or MX5 really. All take a little bit of thought to fit. MGF can feel high, early MX5 fit but are very old... and latter MX5 seat require tweaks. Lotus Elise/Vauxhall VX220 seats will probably fit. Mine are mk2.5 MX5 seats and they're handed which you need to be aware of. Apparently they don't fit... Being heated is awesome. They'll not recline flat because they are wider and hit the b-post. You also lose the nice flat lines on a convertible with the roof down and they really don't hold you in on the twisties, despite their shape. I want better seats but don't want to pay for them. The parts to rebuild Herald seats was around £250 when I fitted mine and I bought a whole MK1 MX5 with mk2.5 seats worth £350 for £490. It was a no-brainer for me but not all are so lucky.
  6. My through-socket sets. I've got them from 3mm to 34mm and although not the best in terms of fine ratcheting, they're the first I pick up. Not my photo.
  7. You did, and he's at it again... 😲 https://forum.retro-rides.org/thread/218220/reliant-kitten-rebodied-formed-aluminium
  8. And here's an imperfect comparison of passive Nighteye (left) bulbs against Osram Nightbreaker (right) bulbs in dirty lenses.
  9. I've got Nighteye bulbs in the van and Herald. The van ones have a fan and the ones in the Herald are passive. They required the back of the bowls cutting to make room for the heatsink. Do a bit if research into the COB and CSP chips before you purchase. Both sets of headlights have plastic lenses and also have reflectors so don't rely on the glass to provide the beam pattern. This can make a difference.
  10. 100% recommend the Falkens. I fitted some back in 2015 or 2016 and at the time they were so new there were only four available in the country. They were also only £40 each then as well. The wet performance is outstanding and the dry very good. They don't hold up well to getting hot as they go hard and they're only rated as T (118mph) which may or may not be an issue for you. I had 6" strips of tread missing in multiple areas after one afternoon... 🤐 The Hankook I put on to replace them are fine, but I hate their feel. Toyo are also very soft in 70 and 80 profile flavour.
  11. Koni are considered the best. I have adjustable Gaz on mine. I went Gaz for the price and have nothing negative to report. The standard stuff is fine for normal use. For spirited driving I'd not recommend them. I did three laps of Goodwood on 6 month old standard black shocks and the n/s/f (the one getting tested the most) started to leak badly.
  12. Are we talking an anti-roll bar for suspension or one for safety? If it's the latter, then I've been on the lookout for a while now as well. Now that my rear tub is in the correct place and the side rails are made of more than cheese, it makes more sense.
  13. Has anyone checked their insurance lately? Mine just renewed with its European breakdown recovery and those details didn't seem any different.
  14. I always used to run mine on reserve so that it did pick up any crap. I made sure I had a good fuel filter before the fuel pump. Some people always keep their tank as full as possible for the same reason and it doesn't make sense to me. Most of it's all going to get shaken up when you drive anyway and I'd much rather let the filter do its job than let it accumulate and have a reduced range.
  15. Personally, I can't see my age group getting both jabs before winter. I've not had one yet despite being stuck in a crowded classroom with students aged 16-18 - the main spreaders. I was meant to be doing a trek in the Sahara at Easter and climbing Mount Toubkal in July and they all obviously got cancelled. Finding out that it wasn't going to happen destroyed me mentally as I'd booked them a year ago after covid forced other events to be binned. I'm on the cusp of booking a Mont Blanc climb for next year but don't have much confidence in it being able to go ahead. Not at least until we see how autumn and winter goes this time. Europe might be OK to visit soon, but many other places won't be. A few of us befriended some of the porters when we did Kilimanjaro and hearing their stories of government encouraged herbs to protect them from covid has been heartbreaking. We were hearing this first hand as international news was reporting mass graves being filled at night to hide it from the locals. I would assume there's a lot of similar going on in the developing world.
  16. Opera browser on android only allows the share option. I'd assume it's a permissions setting rather than anything else.
  17. Yeah, they'll go off. The chances they will break up on you are slim, but risk it to save £30-40 every few years? There's no benefit to old stuff when there are modern options just as good and better. From personal experience, you'll not notice any difference between asbestos and mintex 1144. I'd certainly trust them more than a set of unknown age pads stored in unknown conditions. You are correct though - cheap pads in white boxes are terrible.
  18. Why do you want NOS with ancient adhesive holding them together? Better option would be to fit known new.
  19. Hmmm.... mine must be at least worth its weight in scrap now then. Shame it's got so much fibreglass on it making it lighter.
  20. Can this thread be used for tips too? Inspired by Craig, I bought a GoPro to make some time-lapse stuff. It'll get tested on hikes before hand, but this video stuff is new to me.

    seat cleaning

I've never tried it on interior parts, but I use linseed oil on my vans bumpers. It's 16 years old, the lower half is black plastic, done 300k and I last coated it a couple of years ago. People still ask if they're new bumpers.
  22. Yesterday I filled the Herald up with petrol. I'm relearning the gauge after tweaking the sender and running out of fuel 5 miles away from a petrol station on a fast and narrow A road the other week. 25mpg.... I'm not sure what's going on. I mean, all I did was turn the turbo up a tiny amount the day before I ran out of fuel. Do you think the two issues could be related? 🤔
  23. It's a massive positive that there's a new forum which seems to an improvement over the last. I have moaned a lot about the site in the past and probably will in the future. But it's only because the site is what made me join the club and kept me a member. Thanks to all those involved for doing something about it.
  24. Just make it so no-one can post to it and make it clear that it's an archive. You can include it as a separate search field easily on here and it won't be hard to map in a quote button which will start a new thread here with either text quoted from the old forum or a simple link to that "archive".
