  1. how about vaseline :B,it's cheap and is generally whats recommended to pack a new oil pump on start up as it too dissolves in hot oil and is pretty viscous at lower ambient temps.
  2. i have now got and decided to use some 12.9 allen head bolts which i have modified to make maximum use of the threads in the crank.their blurb states they are good for 190,000psi tensile strength and max 100ftlbs torque(won't be going that high though,75-80 should be ok)one and a half english pounds each ::).as tough as or exceeds the standard bolts but maybe not up to the arp spec.i know how tough allen bolts can be ,i used to use them in 20mm flavour on big presses with high tonnage so have seen their performance. any way some arp bolts going for what i paid, should be ok for a 1500 i would have thought(thinner flywheel?).

  5. he should have used his head.....or that nice low line expensive alloy trolley jack. :P
  6. well just got my arp 2802 bolts and i'm not conviced that 9mm thread engagement is enough, considering research on the net suggests arps' info of 1.5 times diam is recommended. slightly peed off as i now may have to return them and see if there is a slightly longer bolt in the listings. >:( and they are 2mm shorter than the original bolts so who's right?

Butt, ye need to feed each outlet into a T or a V peice, then into filter, then pump then into another after filter, comprendo,!! Should be ok with outlet size, but it takes nowt to enlarge em. Ohh if only the GT had that type of tank,, but it aint :-/ M if(when) i remove my tank again this is exactly what i would do,braize in 1/2" bore take offs to a tee piece.but for now my swirl pot system is just fine(unless i run at full throttle for 2mins or more at which point in theory the fuel demand may outweigh the lifter pump supply, haven't had a problem yet though,so it stays)
  8. think i'll take mine out and redo them or get new ones,i won't take the chance. :o
  9. browse here, http://www.powerflex.co.uk/product-details/200+Series+Washer+Bush/48.html
  10. bit late now,i've torqued to 90lbs :-/. marcus what you said i thought too and ended up double doweling the flywheel when i originally built my engine, the bolts should just clamp the flywheel on and the dowels transmit the torque.
  11. well timed thread nick,i was just going to ask the same info........ :)
  12. i'm sure you can get thick poly spacers from demon tweeks,i've got some in my garage somewhere, they should be ideal :)

    GT6 Sump removal.

thinking about it,if it was made from t6 billet alloy it would probably be strong enough anyway. :-/

    GT6 Sump removal.

tssc are in the process of getting the sealing block made in steel, don't know if they are ready yet but may well be worth getting one if you are taking the sump off anyway.fit and forget. :)

    GT6 Sump removal.

well you're obviously more of an 'engineer' than the other guy. ;) but yes you can remove the sump in situ, lift the engine as much as required after undoing the front mounts and it should come out, don't forget to remove the dipstick and the oil pickup may require some orientation of the sump to get round it.i've done it this way before with a 2.5 in a spit chassis which had bulges to accomodate the extra throw of the front conrods.
  16. rattle,.....1500 engine,.....around 4k revs,.......sounds like it could be worn big ends. :( mind you they wouldn't really be noisy at idle unless severly worn.but i would think it undriveable if that were the case. sound can travel in funny ways around an engine, the bell housing could be acting as an amplifier as you say it sounds like it's at the rear of the engine. does the rattle dampen when you snap shut the throttle on over run? what happens if you press the clutch pedal at idle, does that make a difference?
  17. i think denso tape(correct name?) was used to wrap around the spring after greasing it,it was impregnated with wax to help keep out the elements.sure it is still available :)
