  1. How have you got the solenoid earthed?
  2. John, my reply was a bit tonque in cheek, but we all like seeing your work so one way or another keep us posted. Brad
  3. Good to see you have a new project, enjoy seeing your work. Does that mean my Beam does as well, it has a Girling servo as used on Triumphs & believe it or not the same headlights, even bullet wiring connectors! 😉 RR
  4. Silly question but does the engine turn over by hand if you put a socket on the front pulley?
  5. Make sure you trial fit before painting, it may need adjusting for gaps depending on what other body work has been replaced.

  7. Wow, i used to do summer work in an engine conditioners & that has to be one of the blackest engines i've seen! Get it dipped, then measure up to see if you have an engine. RR
  8. All looks pretty well painted, make sure you have a clean ground path on one of the bolts. RR
  9. Frost have a sale today for this type, same as I used to do the GT. £26.99.
  10. Thanks John, never tried anything like this before so will give it a go on some scrap, as usual until you give it a try it seems a bit daunting. Cheers Brad
  11. Was going to measure the flow back to tank first then decide. Still thinking about vents, starting to like the Le Mans ones but want to do it a bit more pleasing to the eye, something like Marcus did following the wing curves but dare i say it better engineered. I would like a folded / wired lip but can't see how that can be done without warping the wing as that section is all curves.
  12. Haven't used a thermostat for over 2 decades, use those drilled out blanking sleeves after having a thermostat seize on me. RR
  13. Been thinking about this & doing some research. My Red top has a max flow of 35 gal/hr (2.2l/min) & a 2litre engine needs 0.68 l/min at 6000rpm, so plenty of reserve in the pump. The more i read about recirculating the fuel the less i see a downside about it, so rather than do a gash test job i might as well do it properly. I can use a double fuel banjo on the last side choke, then reduce this down to 3/16 (brake pipe 7 times less area than the fuel feed) route the pipe across the bulkhead, clip it to the chassis and run brake line back to the filler neck on the fuel tank. Anyone any comments? Brad
  14. Oh i see thought you meant plastic washers under the wheel nuts.
  15. Never heard of plastic washers on wheel nuts, whats that about?
  16. I have a spare fuel tank filler hose with a vent line from the Beam, was thinking i could use that for the return.
  17. I suppose you could, just didn't want to rob the carbs of fuel. Will need a one way valve inline back to the tank i guess as well.
  18. Is there any mileage in plumbing in a return to tank line at the filter king input so that some fuel is circulating which would keep the temperature down? RR
  19. Cheapest 0-13 lbft torque wrench ever
  20. [quote=1684 They  seem to go for a fair bit when they come up on ebay thesedays.[/quote] Have them fitted to the cars (keep a spare modern one in the boot, just in case) last Red button i got for 99p including delivery, was part of a large job lot of mini bits, so i told the seller just send me the solenoid & you can resell the rest of it. Worth keeping an eye on the job lot auctions as a lot of the 60's 70's parts were generic. RR
  21. Who really knows, they are from a Lucus distributor in the UK in a Lucas box though.
  22. You can still buy genuine Lucas ones.
