  1. Spark plug = Bougie (candle think about the origins of car ignition) Track rod end = Rotule de direction (rotule is also the name for the similar type of joint in the human skeleton) Something that might help as well: 'Oh dear it is broken' = Putain merde c'est foutu! Bonne chance & bonne route
  2. I might qualify then, as all I've done since early December is talk to the local garage man about having the rear brakes checked out this month, looked at my usual French suppliers for likely parts that might need replacing. Tomorrow I 'plan' to go round and agree a date to take the car in, but tomorrow is another day . . .
  3. Ah, maybe they needed to renew visas for their return here. I'm not sure what the requirements are for Brits now post Brexit - Actually doesn't concern me as I have double nationality, I'm yer genu wine 'Franglais'
  4. Clive, I don't get that bit - why do they need visas to come and collect a car, or are they planning to stay for a length of time beyond just a visit. I thought that since the UK wouldn't accept the identity card for a European a passport was all that is needed to visit. Maybe they need to get a passport as like me they don't have one, that can take a while in some areas.
  5. That sums up the difference between dogs and cats. Dogs THINK they are the gods, cats KNOW they are. As the saying goes: Dogs have masters, cats have domestics. As you're probably guessed we share the house with (3) cats.
  6. Nothing wrong with dynamos, just very often they are asked to do more than they are designed for. The one in my 13/60 does the job fine, but then I don't run additional equipment nor use the lights, nor sit with the engine idling in traffic often. Although I will admit to putting the battery on charge a couple of times over winter 'just in case' when I hardly use it. If I did have to buy a replacement I could be persuaded to go for an alternator, just.
  7. I know on the wiring diagrams I have they are shown but on my car there aren't any button switches or signs here ever were, that doesn't mean it never had them though over 50+ years of life anything could have happened. 🤔
  8. In the case of my 13/60 convertible even with the doors open. There isn't a door mounted switch.
  9. Am I right in thinking you have an LED as the charge warning bulb? If I am then I would swap it out for a standard one, when I bought Leds for my car the supplier specifically said NOT to use one as the charge warning light, I run a dynamo.
  10. Dieppe a month or so ago. apart from the locally manufactured cars, the 2 Alpines, a good number of 'foreign' ones in this shot
  11. Same here! I even went as far as looking on the web for examples available in LHD.
  12. I would think that is a good price for the buyer, even allowing for the work needed to replace hoses etc.
  13. I've got even less of a reason to NOT want it as it is LHD
  14. I imported one back in 2015 so some of the paperwork requirements could be different now, thanks to Brexit, but as far as it being standard goes not difficult. There is a site that you send off to for a 'attestation pour l'obtention d'une carte grise "Vehicule de collection" or for a "normal" registration, this would be done by the purchaser once the car is here. Basically if the model of car was sold in France then it will be listed and straight forward. The engine needs to of the same capacity as when first sold. Different exhaust system shouldn't be a problem, as for wire wheels they'll be fine - mine arrived with Minilites and I still got it passed under the stricter rules of "Vehicule de collection". If you want to look at the FFVE site https://www.ffve.org/obtenir-une-attestation-ffve The buyer has all that to deal with as well as VAT declaration/exemption, CT (MOT).
  15. Welcome, from that photo it looks very tidy. Lets have more when you can. There are plenty of people here who will be able to help out when you have questions.
  16. Fitting cheap electronic ignition from the start and refitting original wheels to replace the Minilite type fitted when I bought it. Minilites on some cars look good but for me not at all suitable for a 13/60 convertible.
  17. Let me guess - you weren't wearing safety boots. OUCH!
  18. If I'm not mistaken frenchiemk2 is in France, so in theory transportation would/should be much less
  19. Good idea, just remember the fun you had!
  20. 'Home, sweet, home!' Hope the repairs are quick, easy & cheap!
  21. I'm not yet an MOT failure but definitely got some 'advisories'
  22. Thanks for that. It is very acceptable nowhere near concourse, bought to be used and enjoyed.
