  1. Not necessarily, my French identity card is accepted throughout the EU and it is free šŸ˜ƒšŸ‡ŖšŸ‡ŗ
  2. Yes, but it could easily have turned into an unofficial 10CR . . .
  3. Exactly what happened to me on sunday. Decided to go for a run in the 13/60. I had a printed map with the route marked on plus a road book all downloaded from a local motorcycle site . . . I still managed to turn this from a sightseeing run into a mystery tour, found my way home thanks to the GPS I keep in the boot šŸ˜ When back home I went to giggle maps and found where I went wrong. Moral : read the road book carefully, don't relay on thinking road signs in the countryside will say what you think they will and pay attention to the route details rather than enjoying the scenery. 'Must try harder'.
  4. OUCH! I hope nobody was hurt. Great shame about the car, hopefully can be sorted without too much trouble.
  5. And yourself. Have a couple of stiff drinks and get back soon
  6. It is, as you didn't mention any overheating problems I assume it is just a 'refresh'. Did mine a couple of weeks ago, I took the old liquid to my local recycling depot for them to dispose of correctly.
  7. I was on the point of replying when my computer said Rob had replied and as he is almost* always correct I thought it better to read his reply first. * I put that in to stop him thinking he is perfect and getting a swollen head šŸ˜ I assume the 1200 has a drain tap/plug on the engine block like the 13/60, if so open/remove it to make sure water runs out. It can get blocked so prod it with a bit of wire to help. On my 13/60 I also used a garden hose connected to the heater valve to put pressure in the system to flush it through. Open the heater valve, of course to do this and it will also flush the heater. Flush through in both directions while you are at it. On mine the heater valve was completely gunged up and didn't work so I replaced it. Other than that, when filling leave the heater valve open and then run the car to get any air locks out.
  8. So sorry to hear that. Hope you get recovered quickly and the return trip goes ok.

There are a number of sites that give the range of tyre widths for various wheel widths, they don't always agree. Here are 2 : https://www.tyres-pneus-online.co.uk/tyre-equivalence-advice.html https://www.tyresizecalculator.com/tyre-wheel-calculators/tyre-size-for-rim-size-width-calculator
  10. You really wouldn't want one, honest, apparently they get very hot inside. There, you have a good reason to convince yourselves that you really don't want one šŸ˜ƒ
  11. Yes indeed do enjoy it! I would suggest you check out fuel prices in the different countries as they vary quite a bit at present and filling up just before a border could save quite a sum or cost you quite a bit more than the other side of the border. I wish you were passing through my neck of the woods I'd give you all a wave. MaleSecondhandAtlanticblackgoby-mobile.mp4

    Engine numbers

I've just looked at the Heritage site. You can supply them with the engine number in the car BUT if it wasn't the one on their records as having been fitted at the factory it isn't put on the certificate. So my current engine is the original, I thought it was. This then makes me wonder if other information is incorrect on the Car check site. I might still pay for the fuller search out of interest, it isn't that expensive. Thanks for the info guys.

    Engine numbers

Thanks. So hardly likely the FD was original fit then replaced by a GE. Always possible that the original GE was swapped for an FD then back again . . My Heritage Certificate has the engine number matching the one fitted, I can't remember if they supplied it as being original factory or they filled in the number I gave them.

    Engine numbers

Hi all, I have been following another thread and there was a post showing results from a company called Car check. I thought I would look at what they had on my car. There is a line headed "Engine code" which I assume to mean the engine number. The number quoted is FD 23231 HE, which isn' what is fitted to my 13/60, it is a GE***** HE. Can anyone throw any light on FD. Thanks
  16. I have a pair of sealed units & bowls in pretty good condition. They came out of the car when LHD units were fitted. Snag is they are here in France šŸ˜µ
  17. I think every owner should have that hung on a wall close to where the tools are kept. So true.
  18. Gave mine a wipe over the last time it rained, so at some point this year I guess . . .
  19. That is how my wife deals with the telephone marketing calls - she replies in English!
  20. I don't see it being any more of a problem that you might have simply by driving a car that has come some distance already, i.e. from outside the EU. It is very common, almost an obligation, for Parisians to drive down to the med for their hols. That's around 1000Kms each way. A friend who lives about 16 kms from me went from home to son NĀ°1 in Cherbourg for a few days then drove to son NĀ°2 in Aix en Provence before returning home. Just enjoy the scenery and fingers crossed the weather is good.
  21. do you mean "reverse the polarity" as in the best corniest sci fi series. . .šŸ˜µ
  22. Interesting, ok so from Wiki but who posted it and what is their background? Wiki isn't a scientific body, just an internet information site. I don't know if the problems that are attributed to ethanol are real or not, on a personal level the fuel hoses in mt triumph are fine, bought from a proper supplier, I leave the petrol tank as it is at the end of the season and at the start of the next don't have any problems although I use E5 only. I suspect that people who have had problems with fuel hoses bought off the bay and blame ethanol would have had the same problems with non ethanol fuel - rubbish hoses. After all there are cars here that run on E5, E10 & E85. I ran my previous modern on E10 for 10 years and no issues.
  23. There doesn't seem to be a day goes by where someone reports the very poor quality and/or fake products being sold on the site you don't name šŸ˜‰. I really, really am surprised that anyone buys stuff there. OK, there is a case for buying used parts from individuals and some good reliable, the numbers can be counted on the fingers on one hand probably, sellers but the majority . . Well it seems to be a real gamble. šŸ¤ž
