Congratulations to all that took part and raised money for a very worthy cause! Great to see a few updates over the weekend, a couple of very impressive entries considering the length of the trip! Must admit this is rather tempting for in two years time. Again, well done all!! :)

Will take some pictures tomorrow at work during lunch if nobody has replied by then. Will try my best to remember.

My MK3 came with the rear seat and although it's nice to have to put stuff on I, personally, wouldn't buy one at the prices they're going for at the moment when they come up on eBay etc, I can't see it being very useful, or safe, for children especially without belts,

Heard some good things about Accuspark if you are looking for the more "Budget" option, Depends what you're willing to spend i guess. Looks simple enough to install, video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lcx_Qr0KyM I have the 123Tune system on my GT6 MK3 and am very happy with it, totally fit and forget so far! But i reckon that would come under the "break the bank" category as it's a few hundred pounds plus converting your tach to electric if you want to retain that.

You know when you solve a problem, and think, "that was too easy". I undid the bolts and just moved the catch plate down and....rattle gone. I could get the bottom bolt out but the top one just spun so I thought I'd just try a squeeze with the pliers and then move it down a bit. Ran the car up and rattle gone Test drive will check it's fixed, don't mind if I do! Cheers guys

Cheers guys, I'm expecting this to be a very tedious trial and error process, we'll see. Is there an easy way of bending the hook slightly in case i need to do this? thanks

Hi all. Recently started to get a slight rattle on the driver's side of the front wing against the panel beneath on the side of the bulkhead, I have ordered some new bonnet cones and might have a go at adjusting these (probably needed a new pair anyway). Anything obvious, any tricks i should try? i wouldnt mind but it seems to resonate at just above idle (so whenever i pull away) and again near to cruising speed (typical eh!) haha. has been fine up till now. cheers

I'm sure it could be done but i agree with redrooster, battery isolators are cheap as chips, very easy and work well. Had one on my old classic and used it in winter times, took about 8 seconds to lift the bonnet and whizz the thing on. something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/261375053306?limghlpsr=true&hlpv=2&ops=true&viphx=1&hlpht=true&lpid=108&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=108&ff19=0 Mine has a cigarette lighter/satnav socket wired into it but not checked out the wiring, works though and i think they're pretty easy to wire in. Car is away at the moment unfortunately but if i get it back in time i'll post a quick diagram up if you want.

Cheers Mike, good luck with your search. Reckon they'll look loads better to be honest. Am trying to decide if I like minilites on a MK3, google image search I think.

My revs drop on the GT6 slightly when the halogens are on at idle, as said I think it's nothing major to worry about as long as its set so it doesn't stall. Extra load so makes sense. Mine is only a standard reconditioned alternator unit. Have tested my alternator and is working perfectly (just wait while I touch some wood-easy dirty minded people!) so I think it isn't anything major to worry about as long as it doesn't massively drop. Can check exact numbers when I next run the car up if you want

hypoid53 wrote:Sorry for an confusion (mine!). I now understand what you intend, and yes, you can obviously keep the bracket/koni set up when you go cv. However, if the ultimate intention is to go cv I personally would not bother with the extra expense of the bracket and rare 80-1717's when the Spitfire Koni should be more available and possibly cheaper. Triumph were obviously happy with the angled shock. If it isn't broke why fix it? ;) So the spitfire rear Koni's will fit on my MK3 GT6 once the CV conversion kit is on (intend for these to happen at the same time) I'd rather not fit the conversion bracket to be honest.

Cheers Louis, i may well invest in one. When would you need them by? I was going to hang onto them for a little while as i want to make sure I've got the adjustment on the Koni's set up suitably, but after that they would be all yours, let me know or send me a PM around the time you'll be starting to need them if so. Would thoroughly recommend them to anyone considering using them, very easy. rotoflex: had no idea that was a rarity. now to start thinking about the rear of the car! ordered my CVs last night from canleys.

So is that link correct for a rotoflex MK3 without the conversion bracket but with CVs? If not does anyone have this setup working and know the koni part number? Thanks in advance

Car is back on it wheels: Torqued all the nuts up as per the manual once down on the ground and gave a few bits a touch up (of paint). Feels good to have it done. Not connected the ARB or bled the brakes but will do that after the rear is done and once that bracket is bent back.

Hi all. Starting to look at getting bits for the rear suspension now, hopefully with Koni's all round it should handle like a dream as well as lasting a long time. Have been told these are correct and just need the top bush replacing for cones? http://www.dcperformance.co.uk/cheap/257968/koni-classic-rear-dampers/8040-1020.html Has anyone fitted a set of Koni's to a MK3 rotoflex GT6? Not sure if worth noting but will be getting canleys CV conversion too when next batch is ready. Cheers

Hmm, I don't have anything to heat it with, what would you recommend using? Thanks, it doesn't look bad now (but then it did cost a bit, haha) sure it'll be worth it in the end. Sounds good Mile, looking forward to seeing that. Question: I haven't attached the track rod ends to steering arm yet as it's difficult to get them lined up while up in the air, is this easier once the car is ok the groin, what's the method of replacing these usually? Thanks. Can I just say thanks to all who have helped me out with my stupid questions during this thread. Have learnt a lot while doing this and thoroughly enjoyed working on the car!

Well, other things got in the way a bit (as they usually do), but got some time back on the car t'other day. So got that troublesome bolt off the car and started to put the RH side back on. Much the same as the other one except it went together a lot faster. Wishbones on: Other bits of stuff on: So I was happy! Not sure how I didn't notice this when I took the ARB off, RH side: LH side as it should be: So, am thinking of getting this repaired when I have the rear suspension and CV's done (I won't have time over next few weeks and want it to be ready for summer!), then I can attach the ARB later on. It won't be driven with it off, not sure how I missed it or how it even got like that! Ah well
