Painting front springs

The front springs on my Vit really need painting, the length is ok so I suspect they`re fairly new. But want do you paint them with, as conventional paint will surely crack and flake off when the spring is working?

I used black Hammerite spray and it's still spot on a year later. Brilliant coverage, tough and a nice glossy finish.

etch primer would be a good start, as it will bite into the metal. Then again the por15 stuff claims to be flexible I think. That stuff seems popular.

Springs won't flex enough to trouble most paints. Think how much you can deform a body panel and it springs back to shape without paint damage. Now work out the uncoiled length of your spring, ie as a straight bar, and you will see how little it actually deforms in operation,

chassis black from frosts works well! mine has not flaked off yet!
