I'm only just taking my engine out! Just when I thought I was onto final fettling plus putting in some comfy seats, an oil leak has suddenly got much worse so I'm going to at least refit the sump pan. RobPearce Posted August 9, 2021 Share Posted August 9, 2021 Toby the Spitfire got a good shake down in Yorkshire last week (with quite a lot of shaking and plenty of up to go with the down). This has revealed a tendency to run hot, so I need to fit the oil cooler I bought fifteen years ago (and really should have fitted while it was a rolling chassis!). Also, some rattling noises and stuff - I'm suspicious of the gearbox mount, given that both engine mounts failed at zero miles and the three were bought together.
