32valves Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Alex's RBRR prep alerted me to the apparent lack of availability of oil filters 'on the shelf' locally. Looked on the 'net and there are a few different makes available. Is there a preferred make/supplier ?We've been using Halfords filters up to now but they are now obsolete and our local store couldn't tell me what the cross-reference was.

aar0sc Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Both of my local motor factors have them on the shelf :)
Nick Jones Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 The problem isn't availability - lots and lots of part numbers will work. The problem is that the older cars are being dropped from the listings so can't be cross referenced.Nick
CharliesStag Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Mann should still be available (I am sure the part number listed there is still used on moderns). Furthermore, Mann is an OE supplier. Any GSF store should keep them on the shelf.
Fizzy Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 i always use motofacts. just take the old filter with me, or show the guy in the shop while its ont he car, and they go get one from out back. costs about 6 quid.
Velocita Rosso Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 We pay a £2.82 +vat for our Frams(2869)Had a couple in a new spares box at Blyth on friday....( see article in Nov issue)
32valves Posted October 10, 2012 Author Posted October 10, 2012 Cheers all, I can now have the pleasure of going back to the local motor factors and tell them what the cross-reference is ;D
