Chambers Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Sorry for another thread but with the Spit being a new car to me Im going through hoping to get all the problems sorted or at least answers so I know how to sort them. The passengers side door locks no problem from the inside however the drivers side simply has the lock catch wiggling freely so I looked behind the door card and it seems the rod is missing. I have looked in the Rimmer Bros catalogue and need the following:-Link control rod lock/unlock - 819809 - No longer availableClip/retainer - GHF1180Adjusting pin - 630079 - No longer availableIm wondering if anyone know anywhere else I can get these parts? Also I have the key for the doors however cant get them to turn. The guy I got it off never ever use the door locks as it was always garaged so they may just need lubing up?
Chambers Posted September 14, 2010 Author Posted September 14, 2010 Thanks, new so still finding the good specialist breakers
eproht09 Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Have you checked in the bottom of the door that its not just 'fallen off' ? :)
Chambers Posted September 15, 2010 Author Posted September 15, 2010 I did but no sign of it, did get as nice nail full of whatever rust treating is in there too :-s
firebobby Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Spitbitz near Reading, Berkshire. He should be able to help, Just google spitbitz.
Dicky Blighter Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 The metal rod is available from your local dry cleaners but need to be modified slightly to fit :)The retainer and adjuster I replaced by forming a loop in the end of the rod and putting a small bolt and nyloc nut through the hole in the lock and adjustment was made by bending the other end to the right length once everything was in place.
Chambers Posted September 15, 2010 Author Posted September 15, 2010 I did think of the half bodge it idea with a coat hanger. Turns out I am only looking at £7.00 shipped so think I will get that from SpitBitsThanks for the help
